Honestly Indian way of rotating players is disastrous. Because of this we lost many of highly capable players including Pathan brothers who are highly capable in shorter format.
Why is Manoj Tiwary not playing ? I guess he scored a century in his last ODI he played ?
Rohit should be assured of his place for next few matches so that he can play more freely.
We can have consistent Kohli to seat down for matches because he is an integral part of the team, well almost.
Ojha too deserves some cricket ahead of maybe Rabindra Jadeja or even Aswhin for the matter of fact.

Rohit has being given an extended run here which I am sure he does not deserve. I AM all for giving him this extended run, but his body language and attitude does not suggest any sincerity in accepting a challenge. He is better off in IPL. Tiwary, Rahane etc should be given at least half the chances that are being given to Rohit. Get Y.Pathan back instead of Jadeja, at least he can bowl a bit and has ODI 100s to his name.

Since the 2011 WC, Rohit has played some 15-20 ODIs and has averaged 70+. I think that's a decent run even if it has come against the likes of WI more.

For the rest, yes I completely agree Tiwary,Rahane,Yusuf truely deserve better chance to play.

Correct. Please check the opposition he got those runs from. His last 5 matches were against (quality opposition) SL/AUS and he averages 20 in spite of being under no pressure with the team management backing him up fully.

Now all these numbers are fine, but his attitude is too casual to take him seriously on the international arena. Guys like Sehwag can afford to be casual since he has established himself and also proves his worth now and then, not for someone who is out to prove that he belongs there.

Why does Dhoni always select Jadeja and Ashvin. No matter how they perform, Jadeja and Ashvin are always selected in the team. No wonder Jadeja was auctioned for CSK for 10 Crores. Yusuf, Rahaney and Tiwari, they all need a fair chance.

The assumption that Dhoni wants Jadeja and Ashwin is not correct. Ashwin didn't play today and Dhoni didn't bowl Jadeja at all.

Yes just in this match. What about the previous 4 matches played. Jadeja has come to the team as a specialist left arm spinner but he was not given a bowl. Why include him if Dhoni doesnt have confidence in him and he batted terribly today.

Sorry, I wanted to say captain of Indian cricket team has some say but not veto power when it comes to team selection for a match.

I certainly agree to this one even though I am a CSK supporter. Half the Indian team is from the CSK. Can't he think beyond the IPL ? I feel I am watching CSK more than India. I am shocked that Rahane and Tiwary still haven't found a place in this failing middle/top order. Raina is a terrific player, but he must also be reminded that his place is not to be taken for granted as also Kohli. Both of them seem to come and have a merry time on the field and flop with the bat.

And this man we're talking about, had led the Australian side to two World Cup victories.

Not just 3 matches. He averages 5 in the last 7 innings, highest being 11. His time had come and was also conveyed to him. He simply did not retire gracefully. Just like S.Waugh and M.Taylor before him, he had to be dropped.

Ponting is like the Sachin of Australia, their most successful batsman of the last decade. To add to that, he was also a captain who led his team with distinction that went on to win all the coveted trophies in both forms of the game. If one is not obsessed with personal stats like in India, Ponting would be rated higher.

In spite of all this, if Australian cricket had the bench strength of the 90's or 00's, Ponting would have been dropped in 2010 only. That was how Australia ran its cricket and no wonder they have been the most successful team since the Windies of the 70's

Its pathetic to see the way cricket is being run in our country off late. All they want is personal glory of a select few or should i say the 'one' and nothing else.

Remember Gilchrist's retirement? He dropped a catch, and it was Laxman's nick. Laxman went on to take India to a victory after that game. Gilchrist announced his retirement after that game.

Does anybody have stats of Sachin's performance in the last few matches?

Sachin is not doing as bad as ponting at all, only our expectations make him look sordid. He averages 17 in the 4 innings he has played in Aus with a highest of 48 when he has been rested after every single match. He averages 36 in the last 10 ODIs. He has not played any ODIs from April 2011 till Feb 2012.

He must be averaging in 20's i guess, but IMO it would't matter even if he had got a couple of 50's. What's the point in playing a 39 year old in a odi team that has been on a overseas losing spree ?

I really admire Muralitharan. This guy announced his retirement 8 short of 800 wickets. He could have easily accomplished this feat and then retired. But he chose the Champion's way and picked up those 8 wickets in his final match.
