The bad start the nervous openers gave us, was to an extent made good by Kohli and Rohit with their 50+ partnership. Yuvraj came in the 11th over and batted till the 19th,hogging the strike and denying strike to the in-form Kohli who was striking the ball very well. He tried to go after each ball, but missed it, and costed India a competitive total.

One more blunder was sending Yuvraj ahead of Raina in a win it or lose it all match. I hope the selectors realise it makes no sense to persist with him any longer. He was excellent a few years ago,but doesn't look a shadow of his past.

I have seen that in T20, the last two overs of the first innings are quite crucial. If the batsmen are able to smash the bowlers in the last two overs, the whole team gets into a better mood and spirit to defend the total and the fielding side gets off to a shaky start. And vice versa.
The last two overs of India's innings yesterday were huge spirit crushers and made all the difference. But the biggest impact was Yuvi's innings of course, which sucked all the momentum out like a speed breaker on Outer Ring Road.
All said and done, I still think our team was the strongest team in the tournament, even if it did not win the cup.

So once we scored 120 and somehow defended did that become a benchmark for finals? How many times does that happen?

I never said it was a benchmark , my only point was 129 was defended by us so atleast i was backing the team. I rest my case here!

Totally different conditions. Lots of purchase on that English pitch for our seamers & spinners.

My whole point was we did defend 129 runs in a final of a ICC Tournament , and FYI spinners took bulk of the wickets in that match.

But i must say pelting stones at Yuvraj's house is very deplorable.
All those people should be put behind bars.

Pelting stones incidents are not uncommon for the Indian public who are too sentimental when it comes to cricket. There have been instances ion the past when Saurav G, MS Dhoni, Kaif, Azharuddin's houses were target to public ire when India failed miserably due to an individual's performance. Not justifying the act at all.

Y'day Sachin came to Yuvi's rescue and said good things about him and not to write him off so soon. But Dhoni who was supportive of Yuvraj till date would also be thinking twice before taking him in the team.

All will be fine and forgotten in a matter of days. Considering that in the past 3 T20 world cups India stumbled in round-2 of the tournament, it did pretty well to play the final :) Sri Lanka have been the most consistent T20 WC campaigners over the years, so I'd say they had this one coming.

That being said, to pelt stones is barbaric. Yuvraj Singh definitely has enough credentials in the short forms of Cricket to warrant a more dignified protest than this.

Anybody watching IPL? What a stunner of catch from Chris Lynn of KKR. All time best in my books. Wow, I am breathless.

Yes sir, absolutely amazing it was.

The IPL thread discusses all this and more: http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/shifti...ml#post3420748

Ohh...in the excitement I did not even search for IPL thread. Thanks for pointing out.

AB really took Steyn apart in that over. Not to forget Bhuvaneshwar who managed to bowl 3 dot balls in the over before that. His death bowling has improved by leaps & bounds!

3 wickets in 2 balls. Not sure if that's ever been done before. Tambe, fantastic. This is the stuff dreams are made of.

Yes, mind boggling stats and the match also was an excellent one :)
Yuvaraj scored 138 but was eclipsed by the 181 from Aaron Finch!

Just read on Cricinfo the likely 11 to be played in tomorrow's game & Dhoni has sprung a surprise by opting for only 3 frontline medium pacers!
The 4th & 5th bowlers are Stuart Binny & Ravindra Jadeja. If indeed that is the eventual playing 11 then those are ominous signs for us.

Dhoni has always preferred 7 batsmen + 4 bowlers for tests, Binny can swing the ball with his decent pace and is quite a handy batsmen and MIGHT prove more handy than Rohit . Im just hoping Ishant doesnt play !
