So, the squad for Oz test series has been announced and there are a grand total of 19 players in it.:Shockked:
Dhoni is injured for first test so let's see what Kohli can do in his absence, Raina is back as expected. Would have liked to see someone like Kuldeep Yadav in the squad.
Hope we don't suffer another whitewash.:Frustrati

We need those extra bowlers to bowl in the nets! That can only be the reason for choosing such a large squad. World Cup is immediately after that, i just hope they don't become homesick.
They win in India then go abroad then loose badly then comeback to India and then win again. This seems tobe a unbreakable chain reaction.
Our man NoHit Sharma is on fire today :)
Edit - Scores a double ton, his second in ODIs
One thing surely works for our players, its the uncertainty regarding one's particular slot. Now as Shikkhar Dhawan, Rahane and Rohit Sharma fighting for opener's slot in ODI team, all are performing very well. All in all good for team before WC.
The Sri Lankans must be cursing the Windies for pulling out of the Indian tour!:D
I hope Rohit Sharma reserves some of these big scores for the World Cup 2015.
I am not sure what to say about the knock - in one sense it is awesome, whereas if you look at the big picture does it give me any comfort? Nope, I have no hope from our openers barring Rahane for the WC.
If somehow, however NoHit Sharma keeps firing he will atleast keep that one trick pony called Dhawan out. Might be slightly better.
SL had given up much before the series started I guess, no fight, no gumption at all.
On the Test Squad: I like the squad, it would be good to see Virat captaining the side. The one thing that he will do is be aggressive in bowling and field settings than MSD - why do I say so? Look at the way he captains the side in ODIs Vs. MSD - he has the same bowlers but they seem to do a lot better with him at the helm than MSD - I hope MSD does not play the entire Tests - not that his inclusion is going to make any difference to the series result. I hope Kohli can have a longer run for Tests as a skipper.
India's batting in ODI's - From Gavaskar's 36 not out in 60 overs in 1975 to Rohit Sharma's 264 in 50 overs in 2014...in almost 40 years the game has transformed astronomically (of course a lot in favour of batsmen now). The contexts are way different but the sheer numbers are mind boggling and tell a tale :)
First time in my life I am not watching an Indian series or even following it. This series doesn't interest me at all as result was expected as usual. Win here and then go and lose in Oz. Same story.
For me Sachin's 200 against SA is still the best. This club class attack warranted a 264. Credit to Nohit but I doubt if he will be successful in Aus.

I totally disagree with the Club class attack . Kulasekara, Angelo , Mendis, Perera have all been a regular part of SL bowling attack . Eranga and Prasanna to an extent are inexperienced. Mind you most of these players have beaten us in the T20 world Cup final.
Not taking away from Rohit's brilliant innings some achievement mind you. But would prefer we see more consistency from this batting line up in Aussie pitches.

Rohit Sharma is a brilliant talent but consistency is something we haven't seen from him in the past atleast. He has 2 double hundreds in ODI's but still his average is below 40, that tells a story in itself! Just take a look at his scores in between those 2 double hundred.
Rohit Sharma cannot buy a run in Australia to save his life.
Credit to him for this epic innings but this was yet another one of those JAMODI (Just Another Meaningless ODI) series. What exactly has he ever done in crunch games?
OK, this is what he has done in between the doubles

- 1 year
- 16 Matches
- 412 Runs
- avg 29.43
- 4 Half centuries
Its a tough choice for the team to choose between two inconsistent players
On a lighter note, One of my friends dubbed this series as "Sharma Series".
1st and 2nd Match belonging to Ishant Sharma (5 wickets in each of them)
4th Match was about Rohit Sharma
3rd match...Anushka Sharma :D
Shocking, if true !!!
