mobike008, yeah same here, both of them are in my top 5 authors.

Abhinav.s, Yes there is a new Reacher novel, and without giving away too much, well this is the book which finally leads up to him quitting the 110th !

And to think that Tom Cruise will be playing Jack Reacher.

That already puts me off from watching the movie.

I read "One Shot" by Lee Child first. Wow, what a thrilling book. Really well written. My other favourite books are by Robert Ludlum, Stephen King. I'd finished all of Alistair McLean, Fredrick Forsyth while in school. And some names that I cannot remember now.

Anyone like Ken Follett? Some might find his novels a little too romantic, but I loved Pillars of the Earth. Wonderfully written saga.

@naveen, you said it, nothing against tom cruise, he has done some great work in a few flicks but how can a 5.5 foot tall guy portray reacher's character ? the cameraman better be upto some trick camerawork !

Most of your list is same as me, except maybe stephen king, not TOO fond of that genre to be honest. In fact am now re-reading these all time favourites as have built up a nice collection of all these authors works on my kindle.

I love ken follet. his medieval sagas are superbly written. Have you read the sequel to pillars of the earth yet? If I am not mistaken it came out this year sometime. Forgot what its title is though.

Yeah, got hooked to Stephen King, especially "Christine" and "The Dark Half" when I was in school itself. You car guys must love Christine! It was a thrill to be scared off your head when reading these books in school. I've had nightmares but still read many of his books.

And Ken Follett - started with "Eye of the Needle" and like his books too. The sequel to "Pillars of the Earth" is "World Without End" and I loved that too.

Starting a re-read of the "Lord of the Rings" now.

I have been away from reading since past two years and hope to get back to it soon. Apart from David Baldacci & Lee Child. I am also a huge fan of :-

1. James Hadley Chase ( Have all 79 books and must have read each book atleast 25 times)

2. John Grisham ( Read almost all books except the releases in last 2 years)

3. Stephen King. He is god in this genre. Have most of his books

4. Robert Ludlum. What a writer, got hooked on to international espionage only after reading his books. There was a time in school, i wanted to be a spy when i grow up and this feeling substantially got elevated after reading Len Deighton and Fredrick Forsythe books

5. Ken Follet. Superb writer and I agree POE, awesome book

6. Mario Puzo. Only for Godfather

7. Fredrick Forsythe. Love this author

Apart from this tried many other authors like Robin Cook and others...

Reading used to be my top passion in the past. Need to get back to it ASAP........

Never read a book on a tab, does it give you the same feelings as a hardback?

P.S: Oh yeah, Tom Cruise as a 6.4ft Jack Reacher??? That's a terrible mis-cast. I would have chosen "The Rock" for JR's role...almost perfect ( without the good looks though)

To be honest - I picked up a JHC in school only because of the cover . But yeah, did I fall in love with the writing - always with a twist in the end! Amazing writing! And did you know that though JHC based his books in the US, he was British? I read somewhere that though his detailing of US cities was intricate, he had never visited the US?

And yeah, the Rock would've been nice in the role of Jack Reacher but I would've loved Lemmy Kilmister from Motorhead - somehow think that he would suit the role perfectly - perhaps because of his ugly face!

Big aviation fan here. Currently reading Ed Rasimus's "When Thunder Rolled" - a great personal account from a decorated F-105 Thunderchief pilot in the Vietnam War. He later went on to fly another tour in the Vietnam War on the F-4E Phantom( Got his book "Palace Cobra" on his exploits flying the F-4.

mobike008, i can vouch that an e-ink display reader gives a reading experience as good if not better, as a paperback.

Currently reading Crisis four by Andy Mcnab. Another cool author to read and tells a pretty realistic tale !
