Re: Pune Bandh on 28th December,2010?

I dont think there was any support to bandh today, started from my flat in chinchwad then dropped wife in bibwewadi then came to yerwada.

Noticed nothing unusual like bandh, few places rickshaws are not flying...everything else is working.

AP, Not sure abt that area (camp should be fine actually)
I came from Hirabaug to Kothrud around 8am and although traffic seems less, there wasn't any problem. In the afternoon things should be okay (although I just read on the express site of some stone pelting on buses and rail roko etc happening.)

Everything is fine in the east side.
This bandh call looks like humbug.

Not much of a bandh near Hadapsar area. Looks like many on my floor are working from home.

Re: Pune Bandh on 28th December,2010?

Guys, just got to office all the way from NIBM to Hinjewadi (via Shaniwarwada!!!!), there is absolutely nothing to worry about. There are enough cops all over the sensitive areas & traffic is crazy as usual. People are moving around like any other day.
They did the damage they had to in the early wee hours, so I guess the jobless protesters are pretty tired by now :o)

So by calling a Bandh by a different name, these politcos can circumvent legal challenges?

My contacts from pune advised me not to come to pune today.
Rumors are that there are some anti social activities going on in market places like nana peth etc.

It's not demolition. The statue has been relocated to Pu. La. Deshpande garden.

What happens if I really require something, but unable to find just because of the bandh?
(Say I have to travel to Hospital)

@alpha1: In your hospital scenario, pick one from the following options:

1> You die

2> You take your car and tie a big white flag with a red cross on it and try reaching the hospital. A white bandage with ketchup on it will increase your chances

3> You take your car and tie a big white flag with symbol of the party calling the bandh on it. Having a hefty guy with rayban aviator glasses and a thick mustache along with you, will increase your chances

4> You call the hospital for an ambulance and they take you back in it

5> You sit tight at home and self medicate. Once you recover, go file a public interest litigation in court to declare bandhs as illegal.

Good one, I guess one will have better chances if they replaced car with white scorpio (no offence to bhpians)

of course this is the most important reason to fight about - a statue; not farmer suicides, hunger, poverty, corruption, poor infrastructure...
