Yes all the passengers were wearing the seat belts, which definitely saved them..the car was at arnd 70kmph and was taking a slight curve when this bus from the opp side turned suddenly towards its right into the petrol pump and BANG it went ....:Shockked:

@toyota dealers have quoted around 3L to get the car up and running....

Oh maaa Goddd !
Clear Pics !
damn glad every 1 survived !
Well, 3L for complete restoration? that's like big on pocket !
hmmm....

Cheers
Jai

Hmmm....very impressed with the Innova--this one didn't seem to be equipped with airbags and yet no injuries!

Just last month read about a long-term Innova with an auto mag (don't remember which one for sure--I think it was Overdrive) hitting a poorly designed, unmarked roundabout in the night, and despite the considerable damage everyone walked out fine......

Yes it was overdrive, there is a thread in shifting gears section too about the same.

Holy cow... when will these bus Drivers learn to use indicators..
nice to hear that everyone was safe.. ( because they were wise peole wearing seat belts)..

the best practice is to save urself from the collisions. sadly in this country we have pathetic drivers (no offence, i m assuiming almost 100% people) and even more pathetic laws and loopholes.

for every offece its Rs 100/- (mostly). IMHO fine should b a combination of percentage of vehicle (0.1% for each fine) multiplied by whether the vehicle is commercial or private (2 times for commercial vehicle) multiplied by the drivers age (<25 should b 2 times, 25-35 should b 1.5)

two hypotheticla scenarios.

Maruti 800 - Cost of car : 2,20,000 - Private vehicle - Driver <25
2,20,000 X 0.01 X 1 X 2 = 4,400/-

Mercedes C class - Cost of car : 30,00,000 - Private vehicle - Driver <25
30,00,000 X 0.01 X 1 X 1.5 = 60,000/-

100 rupee fine is peanuts for a mercedes guy. fines should act as solid deterrants as they do in west.

whats ur opinion guys?

Where did this happen!??
Glad to know everyone are safe n sound...

PS - There were two Innova accidents last week and the people in it died. So an article was published in a daily newspaper quoting that the Innova isn't a safe car. They have more to write when they get to know abt this...

shucks... that Innova is a mess! I believe there is only one way to prevent these cases. Never run at high speeds. I know, it sounds blasphemous to many of us. Afterall what is the use of having a nice, powerful car if I can not rip it? However this is the chance that we take. One hit and the car is history.

City roads and any other that are not at least 3 lanes wide on each side do not call for a speed more than 50kmph at any cost. This is simply because you do not get enough space to manouever in tight situations. Even a 3 lane road (that is 6-lane with both sides included) within city is only good for a 50-60 kmph. Highways are probably ok only for 80-90kmph max. That too when they are really nice sprawling ones where you can see as far as 500 meters or more.

This is like treating the symptom and not the diesease.
Why do we make large wide highways. So that people can get from A to B faster. That holds true for both goods and people.
Look at america, their economy moves by roads, with speeds reaching 80 miles/hour.
the real solution is to overhaul the motor vehicles act.
Do away with the stupid "bigger at fault" law and bring in strict penalties for people knowingly breaking rules. For example jumping red light and killing someone should not be "simple 2 years jail rash driving charge" but manslaughter as you knew such an act could kill. Same for people who drive on wrong side to save a few hundred meters of driving.
