That's where the vehicle is bought from. Since we're based in Mumbai, no reason to take the car to Pune.

Just to clarify, no higher-ups were contacted. I called the regular helpline and all details shared were of my brother-in-law.

So you loose NCB for the next year. And is there an increase in premium to be payed next year since you made a claim. Just wondering BMW Secure has this increase in premium if you claim.

Re: Exceptional experience with Land Rover India's roadside assistance

Thankful no one was hurt. But surprised at the damage incurred. From the looks of the road, it could not have been going fast. Trying to understand how the robust suspension on a vehicle like this could have incurred the damage it did.

24x7 Roadside Assistance comes standard on this car? If so, for how many years?
Btw, why did it take them 1hr to call you back!
Anyways, job well done.

Great to see something work effectively - especially in a time of need.

From what I hear, Land Rover roadside assistance gets a LOT of practice!

A huge blessing in this case!! For those unfamiliar with 0-dep, here's a related thread.

If it wasn't for this 0-depreciation policy, chances are part 2 of the story (ie. the repair part of it) wouldn't be so pleasant. Once again, I'm basing this on JLR service horror stories I've heard from several people.

Re: Exceptional experience with Land Rover India's roadside assistance

A good and a bad experience all in one night. But how did this happen in the first place? The road looks pretty narrow but without any bounderies, from the looks of it, the vehicle rammed something.

Re: Exceptional experience with Land Rover India's roadside assistance

Around 2 years back, dog went under my Vista & damaged my intercooler and radiator. Vehicle was immobile. This happened in between kamshet & lonavala and time was 5.30pm. Called up tata helpline and tow van was next to me in 1/2 hour.

He asked me : Sir you want to take your car to Mumbai or Pune ?
Since it is MH-12, taking to mumbai you will have to pay octroi !!!

I was suprised to hear this, but since i wanted to move on .. got the car towed to lonvala - apollo garage on NH4 near the chikki walas and got it repaired.

Re: Exceptional experience with Land Rover India's roadside assistance

That is good to know that JLR has a professional team to support the after sales. The true grit only come out in the hour of the need and thus it is very impressive and reassuring to note that the team is all out to provide that support.

Good hearing!!

Re: Exceptional experience with Land Rover India's roadside assistance

Very glad to hear that no one was injured GTO. And happy that you shared this information, I can understand the panic which might have happened that late in the night.
This experience of yours is a good input for those who are in dilemma between Wrangler or Defender to be owned in couple of years time.

Hard to believe that it is Tata and a European car at that providing such a service.

Was just about to post something on the same.
A celebrity expecting too much? Or was it Land Rover's fault?

PS: Wonder where you got/thought of this tag line: The people of Buganda, who live in Uganda, speak Luganda !

Re: Exceptional experience with Land Rover India's roadside assistance

The Land Rover was returned back last Friday (just under a month for repairs). I haven't seen it yet, but my BIL says he's satisfied with the work.

The repair bill ran an eye-watering 8.5 lakh rupees! That's enough to buy a full C2 segment sedan. Way, way overpriced for what wasn't such a severe accident.

On the positive side, zero depreciation insurance meant that my brother-in-law only had to pay Rs. 4,000 odd from his side. For premium cars, zero depreciation insurance is a must:

Those prices will make anyone cry.

72 grand for a bumper, 27K for one side foglamp, 30 grand for one single tyre and 35 + 5K for a new key with programming.

If I were Rush's brother in law, I'd be very curious to know why these items were replaced:

- Engine wiring - Rs. 1,23,885 + labour Rs. 18,000/-
- Remove key and reprogramming (perhaps due to a change of wiring)

Vid, do not miss. Small items but they seem to be adding up to a big grand total:
- Tyre fitting @ 2000 bucks!
- Tyre valve @ 1000 bucks!!!

Holy moly!!

Tyre fitting at 2000/-!!! I wish I was able to get away with this kind of daylight robbery!

I'm sure the bill would have been half the amount if insurance was not used.
