Hi Guys a funny incident happened today morning while I was on my way to the office. Here it goes... as I was driving through the busy morning rush of office goers, I honked behind a Qualis cabbie to let me pass him as he was slowing the rest of the traffic along with me right behind him. But he paid no attention to my honking and kept going at his leisurely pace. So only alternative left for me was to overtake him from the left side. But as soon as I tried doing so, he came on to his left blocking my path as if he wanted to play the big bully with me showing that might is right! After all he did not have much to lose as much as I did being a car owner. So I kept behind him till the next traffic light. As the light was red he got stuck behind a chauffer driven baleno and I got a chance to park my car next to his from his left as there was just that much space left. This is where the funny part begins, As we both had stopped parallel to each other and the light was still red, I just glanced at the driver and don’t know for what reason he could not hold his horses and just stepped on the accelerator resulting in hitting the baleno parked in front him on its bumper. This in turn brought out the owner as well the driver of the baleno and without thinking much the baleno owner (seemed to be a respectable man in his 50’s) straight away slapped the driver of the qualis twice. :Cheering: Although the baleno hardly had a scratch on it but nevertheless the owner just could not figure out why his standing car was hit from the rear and that too with such a force. The baleno owner also got the Cop standing at the traffic light and had the driver booked. While all this was happening I simply could not stop but laugh aloud at the driver and his pal who were earlier thinking that they were above the law and can just bully everyone around. But as they say, you reap what you sow, so in the end he got what he actually deserved!

Sometimes these guys get irritated by persistent honking and do the opposite of what the honking is intended for. I would recommend that you do not waste your energy honking too much in such situations -- honk once or twice, and if he doesn't respond, simply zip past the guy on his left or right, whenever the gap opens up.

Come on, I think slapping is a bit excessive. The Qualis driver has every right to book a counter-complaint against the Baleno owner for assault. Unfortunately, the guy is probably afraid that he might lose his job and is also probably intimidated by the owner's "status", and may not be aware of his own rights. I agree that the Qualis driver irritated you, but you should not gloat over the poor guy's misfortunes. In this case he probably got distracted and forgot that the car was not in neutral and might have released the clutch. It has happened to me a couple of times, but fortunately I didn't collide with anyone.

@rks .. I did not honk much and yes I generally tend to zip past them but unfortunately I could not do so today. As he knew he was at fault thats the reason why he kept quite and welcomed his misfortune.. rl: And yes, I agree with you completely that slapping was not required.. but here in delhi, thats the only language people understand and resort to..
ANY CABBIE that's stopped and done bodily harm to in any way shape or form is FINE by me.. I hate them guys...WELL DONE!!
Same thing happend with me i was on my bike with one of my friends,there was a qualis driver for CNBC he showed Right signal and took left and somehow i controled the bike i got so pissed i opend the door of qualis and i gave two tight slap to the driver and he started sorry sorry so i couldnt hit him more but i was not able to control my anger and i broke his side mirrors.

You know the proverb: Iron sharpens the Iron! So when these bullies are let loose on the Road, who drive crazilly without any traffic discipline and no concern for other Road users, sometimes we need to become one to teach them the right way!!!
its great that happened...these qualis and indica taxiwallas really need to be taught a lesson
Always maintaining a distance is good thing to do.. I mean no close tailgating.
Benefits are you will have time and space to take decision and implement them. cabs are like wild elephants.. so when u see a elephant u obviously want to keep clear of risks .. because u find ur self in advantage.
I keep lot of distance from cars which are banged on the sides (especially cabs) its a warning that the driver is an amatuer or a careless one.
Shift to neutral and preferably engage hand brakes is the lesson assuming, the cabbie was geared!
