Bangalore Elevated Tollway: Dangerous lane merging Strips

Mods- I know there exists a thread on BETL . But this is for a specific issue which can lead to accident and a possible loss of life. Hence felt that it deserves a separate thread. If found inappropriate , you may take necessary action

Most of the people working out of EC in Bangalore take the BETL for their commute to and from office to beat the traffic. The road is pretty decent one and one might not end up in trouble if driven sanely and carefully. However there are 3 places on this express-way that are skid traps for vehicles especially two wheelers . These are

1. The lay bye's in both the directions
2. The area where the lane coming from Hosur road(from below and left) merges into the lane from Ecity opposite Infosys office.

Here is the problem. The place where the two lanes meet is filled up with a black plastic - rubber material . In case of lay byes its the strip seperating the laybye area from the main carriageway. These strips, approximately half a feet in width, have hardened over time and use and have been polished like glass . When a two wheeler goes over them, its like riding on glass and he/she will instantly kiss the tarmac. This is horrendous when it rains or drizzles and the strips become even more deadly offerering NIL traction . There is nothing the rider can do and he/she will be down even before they can react and make corrections to the handle bar . God forbid if there is a fast moving vehicle behind you!

I don't know how many accidents have happened and how many lives have been lost on the express way because of this goof up by the construction company. I am sure that the person who had a fall would be clueless on how or why did they skid and fall.

So request who ever is reading this, especially who travel over BETL on two wheelers, to keep in mind of these strips and never let your vehicle tyres touch them at a moderate speed. If you want to cross over them then make sure that your speed is really low and you can control your vehicle. Also request you to alert your friends and family who use this road frequently so that they are aware of this danger.

If there is anyway the BETL authorities can be made to correct this then it would be great. And the construction company must be taken to task for over looking such a dangerous construction.
