Ropeway from Dhaula Kuan to Manesar (via Gurgaon)!

Transport minister has announced a plan to build a ropeway transport system to help reduce congestion on NH8. It will be between Dhaula Kuan and Maneser (via Gurgaon). There does not seem to be anymore details around the project except the cost -

Quote:
Estimated per kilometer cost of this project would be Rs 50 crore as compared to Rs 350 crore per kilometer of Metro

Will it work?

1. How much Peak Throughput can a Ropeway based system achieve on Perfect Operational Efficiency?
2. What is the Maximum Speed (averaged over stops) achievable?

Say whaaaa! This is beyond ridiculous (not the idea but the practicality and feasibility).

How about our leaders pull out something from their hats.. say, vision for instance. The cost of construction of the Metro may be seven times but at least it will cater to current traffic problems to some extent.

Hahaha Leaders?

Here's a thought about the Metro... The Mumbai Suburban Railway supports Fast Trains which stop at few stations. Can the existing Metro Systems (modeled on the Delhi Metro) ever support it?
Just imagine the throughput gain, that a system can achieve, if they could do a Rajeev Chowk to Sikanderpur in 15 minutes non-stop.
All it would have needed is an extra line at some stations (for over-taking) and a better scheduling system.
Lost opportunity.

Maybe it's one of those projects that's never meant to materialize.

Or could be an entirely different technology which our esteemed minister interpreted as a ropeway. Maybe he will take a few more tours to all over the world to see this system in action and then decide if it is a good fit for Dhaula Kuan - Manesar route. Feasibility study on the ground can be done later.

Don't worry, it will never materialize. This is the just the marketing stunt, to the sell the real estate inventories. Far more important projects like Dwarka metro to iffco Chowk been pending from years and years.

I'll have to be convinced very hard to ride a ropeway that's been built & is operated by the govt.

A Ropeway!

Interesting read in the morning.

How I wish they could invest the money in maintaining and enhancing the existing system instead of putting up in a joke like this!

These realtors need to a Realty check on their own level of stupidity, and what they perceive the buyers levels to be. If the buyer has already been smart enough to not buy these overpriced, boxes in the wilderness till now, they are definitely not going to be voluntarily, er, strung by a rope.
