Also, can I get a fastag without an existing ICICI bank account? |
I have been using ICICI fastag from soon after the time when Fastag was launched. The website is easy to use. I am app averse, and the website is the only way I manage the tag account.
This is lot of money equal to 70K crores in a year :Shockked:
Just got a message saying 60Rs was deducted from my fast tag account while my car is parked safely at my residence. I guess the operator entered someone's number incorrectly and that led to deduction from my account. Anyways, I was able to call ICICI helpline and raise a dispute and get a ticket number - all of this within 2 minutes and no waiting time. I would say that's an impressive service from ICICI and I will have to wait 25 working days to receive a response.
Government should really enforce the rule of giving a free ride if fasttag is not working instead of allowing operators to manually enter the number give scope for errors!

Not really practical in a society like we have in India (where honesty is not considered a quality). If such free rides are given, every one will deliberately tamper their FasTag and blame the toll operator and demand a free ride. My understanding is that toll collection in India is now its all time high, mainly because of automated and accounted systems like FasTag.

The "mainly" part is unsubstantiated and therefore debatable. As I see it, there are 4 reasons for the all-time high toll collections:
1. As you say, plugging leaks via Fastag.
2. Redevelopment of existing roads and introduction of toll on them.
3. Introduction of greenfield, tolled roads.
4. Annual increase in toll rates.

5. Drastic increase in number of vehicles.
6. Govt and PSU vehicles that were not eligible for toll exemption now have to pay toll.
7. Drastic fall in reliance on public transport.
I have a fastag which I got through Axis bank. I seldom use it, but there is cash in the wallet.
I want to replace my windscreen, which will mean getting a replacement tag. But I can't see any such option on the Axis Fastag screen.
Anybody know what to do?

You will need to call the customer care no. 18004198585 to block your FASTag, and re-issue a new tag. Once you take a new TAG, Axis will transfer the balance to the existing wallet account.
Check their website:

I’ve put fastag sticker on my windshield put it doesn’t scan from the outside inspite of using a handheld scanner up close. The toll attendant then made me scan it from inside and it worked fine.
Is there any solution for this? I cannot put it on the sunroof as there is a lighting effect etched on the sunroof glass.

One of my neighbor has this issue with an RFID based parking sticker, to overcome this, he has pasted this on the outside of the windshield and applied a adhesive layer on top of that. Something similar to mobile screen guard, this way the sticker does not get damaged easily due to rain / dust etc.

Just realised that the sticker is slightly slanted and accidently not stuck on absolutely straight. Could this misalignment be a reason it's not working?

Maybe you pasted your tag with the surface that is scanned facing inwards?

which car is this? if the car has fancy glass (IR rejection metallic coating, etc.), only specific spots on the windshield are suitable for these tags. service guys or user manual can help you locate this spot.

Nope. Pretty sure it's stuck on the correct side but not completely straight. Not sure if that's the reason

I am almost certain it's because of the type of the glass used that blocks IR/heat. You can check with BMW folks to suggest the correct spot to fix the tag.
