Four Indian women have decided to drive their car all the way to London to celebrate the 70th Indian independence. The expedition called XPD 2470 would start from Coimbatore on March 26th and reach London in seventy days.

Meenakshi Arvind, a hotelier and the team leader who proposed the idea says "I've been thinking of this for around two years. Last year, I drove to Thailand and now we are on this through Facebook".

The drive will also raise awareness on women's empowerment and Rotary's literacy year.

The all-women team would drive through 24 countries including China, Myanmar, Russia and Poland. From Netherlands alone they would ferry the car into the United Kingdom. They require nine different visas and would drive around 500 km per day.

The 24,000 km long journey will cost them a total of 60 lakhs.

While travelling across India, they've planned to honour women achievers including Puducherry Governor Kiran Bedi and Olympian Mary Kom among others. In London, they are working on to meet Prime Minister Theresa May.

"The way I look at it is - "Everyone gets a miracle"- and this road trip is just that for us. To live and be challenged "says Priya Rajpal, an advertising professional from Mumbai.

The women, all experienced drivers, would soon take a crash course to be able to attend to vehicle breakdown.

Talking about terrain challenges, Coimbatore-based Mookambika Rathinam says "We are not sure if there would still be snow in Kyrgyzstan around March. In Myanmar, the army would escort us".

The team will be covering the following countries: India, Myanmar, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Serbia, Croatia, Austria, Czech Republic, Switzerland, Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, United Kingdom.
