Re: May 2017: Government does away with red beacons for VIP cars

Slightly offtopic but similar issue

This is what citizens of Bangalore should do to BBMP instead of protesting in the sun

Re: May 2017: Government does away with red beacons for VIP cars

It's not enough to remove just the light. VIP cars are decked with red number plate , big in size with designations, party flags on bonnet or sides, words like king, lord, lion, boss etc on rear glass. Govt should direct that all cars be devoid of any words, images, flags, red boards front and back proclaiming designations/ranks. Nothing. Clean cars with just number plates front and back. Will that ever happen? No, I'm sure. And lastly, what's the point of removing red light from a VIP's car and letting him drive around in a 10-car convoy with all other police cars flashing lights?

Re: May 2017: Government does away with red beacons for VIP cars

Saw the Maharashtra CM's convoy last night. His Safari didn't have a beacon, but with ten escort cars with flashing lights, the VIP convoy was not exactly inconspicuous. .

The latest I've seen is cars emblazened with 'Govt of India' or 'Govt of Maharashtra' now have their lal battis on the dashboards.

It'll be a long while before VIP culture leaves this country

Even the red beacon culture has not left our country

West Bengal's PWD Minister Arup Biswas was found using red beacon and on being enquired he said,"Our government has not yet banned red beacon. So we are not bound to follow the other instructions,"

I think he would still be using old 500 and 1000 notes because West Bengal's government did not ban them.

In Mumbai, the red light continues. Saw this on my way home from work, while stopped at a signal. May 2017: Government does away with red beacons for VIP cars-1496170116411.jpgMay 2017: Government does away with red beacons for VIP cars-1496170144499.jpg
