Re: Increasing cases of Mob Violence in India

The police can't or wont do anything about it because many, if not all, members of the 'mob' are directly or indirectly associated with someone in power. Remember in a recent lynching, someone from the mob could be heard telling the police that 'we are MLAs men'. When the politicians openly encourage such brutality (garlanding murderers, justifying it with ludicrous reasons, blaming the victims, and so on), what can anyone do?

There was an excellent article somewhere online about all this. It says this is a well thought out strategy to keep the people on boil and have a mob ready at all times. In the case of a riot, the mob is ready to assemble in a moments notice as they have all done this before and gotten away with it. The politicians no longer have to go around inciting people to loot, rape and murder. The mob is just there, waiting.

This has to be dealt with how violent riots are dealt with in actual democracies. Deploy riot police with tear gas, stun weapons, water cannons and lathi charge the fear of god (and the law) back into these murderers.

Re: Increasing cases of Mob Violence in India

Personally, I think its BS if we are made to think that all these mob violence and lynching has been happening for so long but we get to know about the news more often since we live in this digital age of faster communication.

For e.g. the brutal rape & murder that happened in Kathua, an incident that happened in Jan'2018. News comes out and trends 2 full months later, the assailants were arrested and charges were pressed on in April'2018. A clear instance where the example is set that you can get away with anything as long as you have the support from people in power & ministers joining rallies in support of these assailants.

I can only hope that peace prevails soon. The sense of hate creeping in even between those who were good educated friends and acquaintance of mine is worrying.

Re: Increasing cases of Mob Violence in India

Violence on the streets of Aurangabad, in the Waluj area, last thursday. Many trucks torched. Even by friday afternoon, there was smoke and smell of burnt stuff in the area. I saw burnt ambulances and fire trucks. Guys, who attacks ambulances and fire trucks?

Many companies/offices were attacked too. Saw smashed windows and torched equipment. Security guards were man handled.
