Folks,
Anyone aware of the permissions/passes needed if one were to drive down from Delhi to Bangalore ? It is a crazy thought (I am somewhat aware of the risks/consequences) given the circumstances, but let's say that there are pressing personal matters. I'd have my aged parents with me (total 3 ppl in the car). I am aware of the need for medical tests on arrival, potential risk of institutional quarantine, but definite home-quarantine in any case. I am also aware of the pass-system for Bangalore, and entry-points. I am just not able to find anything about Delhi, and the states that I'd need to pass through. I am also aware of a notification from MoHFW that people passing through a state (provided that they can show evidence of same) should be allowed, and not stopped/subjected to medical checks in the intermediate states enroute. I am aware of the GoKarnataka published SOP for inter-state travelers.
However, in reality we know that situation on the ground could be a lot more different and challenging. Are the petrol bunks along major NH's operational ? I suppose the pit-stops and hotels are all still completely closed. So there is practically no option for night halts anywhere, right ?
Like everyone else in similar situation, I've waited thru 3 lockdown phases, but there doesn't really seem to be an end in sight, or for that matter, resumption of airline services.
regards,
B
Hello BHPian
Like many others, i am in a similar fix. We stay in Noida and my wife's office is in Gurgaon (she has joined a new office). She needs to get her IT equipment from the office and the company has asked her to pick up the equipment (instead of dropping it to Noida:deadhorse).
Now, we need to move from Noida, cross Delhi, and reach Gurgaon (and back) for this exercise. Her company is willing to give us a letter stating the concern and her need for this movement. They say that this letter should be enough to generate a pass. I guess i will need 3 such passes for uninterrupted movement between the cities. Can someone guide me regarding the process? If everything can be done online, that would be excellent.
I have applied for a pass to return to KA from MH (Pune) on the Seva Sindhu site. There have been no updates on the same for a couple of days now. It shows that application has been accepted and forwarded to concerned officials.
Does anyone have confirmation if they're allowing crossings at MH-KA border?
It would also be helpful if any information is provided on relavant passes to apply for the said travel in MH.

Hi
I am in exact same situation as you, except that I have to go from Gurgaon to Bareilly and back, to take my wife and kid back from my In-laws' place.
Did you managed to get your family back? Please let me know how to do it. |
Hey Nav-i-gator
No, i am still waiting. Actually there isnt clarity on what is needed. As forum members suggest, we may have to personally visit the DCP office and enquire, however with increasing cases amongst the police as well, i was sceptical to do that. Just hoping for the situation to improve or until i am very convinced of the process. Stay in touch and let us check back in a few days, if you or me have any updates to this.

Well, from what I could gather, there is no "2 way" pass. At best what I can do is get some doctor to give me a prescription advising admit in hospital and basis that, my family can get a pass, hire a taxi and come here. It is not feasible/acceptable to me for many reasons. First, I don't have any such medical condition which needs admission to hospital so would have to get it wrongfully. Then, even if I manage to get a doctor who can do that to me, family will have to hire a taxi. Even if someone agrees to it, it's not safe these days.
I really can't think of the reason why we can't have a two way pass for travelling in our own private car. :Frustrati
I mean, it's safe - I will go, get them into the car and drive back safely within my own car. No contact with anyone else, and no chance of Covid19 infection. I'm OK for a 24 hour validity too. I don't even have to stay at Bareilly, I can drive straight back. This is frustrating.

There is no thing such as two way pass, in the pass my father has it was valid till 14/3 after which a notification was issued to extend the pass during lockdown 2.0 and again a notification was issued that the pass will be valid till the lockdown ends and my father travels Interstate on a regular basis.
If possible with utmost precautions go to the DCP office, write an application and along with drivers license and Aadhar card submit your application and you will be issued a pass hand to hand.
Though there will be limit on people travelling in the car.

Thanks revvharder,
Is this facility available for everyone or only people engaged in essential services/people with medical conditions can get it?

Just talked to my father, the police has recently started troubling about people entering UP with a Delhi pass but as my father comes under essential services with a little bit of hassle they allow him to go. So it is suggested to get a pass issued by Delhi and UP or whichever state you will pass while traveling. This thing has started after Lockdown 3.0 was implemented.
Hi BHPians,
Quoting my previous post- how does the pass work for driving from Bangalore to Chennai and back the next day? My dad wants to get my grandmother back to Bangalore via car. Are these passes valid for a few days or would he need a re-entry pass for Karnataka?
TIA :)

Hi BHPians,
Do you have any recent update on the KA-TN cross border travel situation? My dad has been trying online to get a pass to drive to Chennai & pick up my grandmother health whose condition is getting worse by the day. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Did you receive any update from the KA portal regarding your application? I have to travel from TS to KA and have applied for a pass yesterday. Seems like I have to wait for few more days until it is approved.

It's been a week since I applied. The application is still under process with the District Nodal officer as per the portal. Will keep you updated if and when things move for me.

The life of the privileged. Able to secure a pass without good reason (as mentioned in the article) and travel, because he belongs to one of south India's biggest business families.

My 5 year old daughter is stranded in Chennai since second week of March, in a relative's home. She went for a short stay before Ugadi and got stuck due to Lockdown. Though she was managing with video calls so far, some frustration started showing up recently hence decided to try my luck in getting her back. I am planning to travel to chennai and bring her back in my car. I would be going alone in my car and she would travel back with me. Following are steps taken by me and some pointers and would update after the trip.
1. I have applied seperately in Seva Sindhu portal for Leaving and Entering karnataka.
2. Leaving application is being processed by Revenue department and still remains pending and in my visit to ADGP office in MG road they informed us that it has been suspended and only in person application is processed and that too "return pass" is not being issued.
3. Returning application was processed by collectorate and after uploading documents E pass was issued within 45 minutes(online)
4. I visited ADGP office on the same day. We have multiple counters for various emergencies. Social distancing is not great as people keep crowding though there is adequate space to maintain queue. Officials present were extremely helpful - we should clap for them and shower petals as they were answering politely for most of the queries raised by people. The process is simple we should give a small application with minimal details, they generate a ticket and an sms with link is sent immediately to our mobile. We have to fill the form online and upload the documents. It takes about 30minutes to get it approved or rejected. Mine was rejected first since I could not upload birth certificate and the Aaadhaar of my daughter missed my name. The help desk pesonnel personally took care to check my application before I submitted it second time.
The pass is issued about 45 minutes after approval message is received. They keep reminding us all through that if we do not meet the criteria mentioned while travelling our pass might get cancelled via-route. All through they were cordial in conversation and usually are aware of the happenings. I would rate this service 4/5.
5. I have also submitted an application in TNEPASS website which is pending even after 24 hours. Meanwhile I got an offer from a tout to process the application in chennai if it is genuinestupid: I told him that I have got my pass from KA for both the ways and he asked me to send it by Whatsapp. After checking with TN officials he confirmed that it was valid for travel in TN and I need not spend money to get one more pass.
