Kerala and Tamil Nadu police are not allowing people to cross border in spite of having valid passes issued by the Karnataka Government.

This was not the case couple of days before.I know few people who had reached Chennai and couple of places in Kerala as well by passes issued in Bangalore.

I have brought this to the notice of Karnataka Government.

My friend lost his mother, but could not travel from Bangalore to Kollam (KL) last Friday. Today another person is checking for his friend for the same reason. Feeling very sad for the helpless situation of these people.

In similar cases, you need to get pass from the destination collector / DSP too. This will help in them getting across border.

Two folks started from Satara, Maharashtra drove and crossed Kerala border at Kasaragod with a letter from the Satara cops, according to the report. The reason for emergency was that one of the traveler's brother was critically ill after a snakebite. They reached Thrissur today, was stopped at Toll plaza and was immediately escorted to a govt hospital, taken sample for tests and quarantined. The cops are planning to charge case against them for venturing out during lock-down. The person could not meet his brother though.

TN and Kerala administration are not allowing vehicles to thier respective states inspite of having valid emergency traffic pass.

Today's Malayalam newspaper states the process for obtaining interstate travel pass. It is issued only for emergencies like death of an immediate relative, pregnancy and medical reasons.

Applicant should obtain a recommendation letter from the district collector of the place you are travelling. This along with other self identification documents to be submitted to the ADGP office next to Chinnaswami cricket stadium in person (make sure you wear a mask while going there) . People outside Bangalore can submit this to the ACP office in their respective districts.

Since yesterday KA has stopped issuing emergency passes to TN due to the current intensive lock-down in TN. I had applied for the emergency pass with the required documents yesterday. It was approved and then got canceled at the last minute after the official fax from the TN govt reached the Karnataka administration.

That means you need to have someone in your destination to visit the collector, obtain the letter, and scan it over. Even if you get the permission, driving through the checkpoints in Kerala isn't easy and when you reach, you need to self-quarantine and they come and check!

So think hard about the value of going there!

Very true, it is intended to be used only in a REAL emergency.

Do you have any recent update on the KA-TN cross border travel situation? My dad has been trying online to get a pass to drive to Chennai & pick up my grandmother health whose condition is getting worse by the day. Any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Does he require a pass from the local authorities in Chennai as well?

My BLR colleague's mother-in-law passed away in Chennai but they were denied entry into TN (Hosur border), even though he had a KA emergency pass. Seems very few exceptions now.

Any information on how to get a pass to drive Delhi to Bareilly (Uttar Pradesh) and return. My family is there , though it is my in laws place.
