Fight or flight mode experiences on Highways

Curious to know what were some of the combative or avoidant techniques that you would have followed to steer yourself out of a potentially scary/life-threatening situation on the highway, ranging from a vehicle breakdown in a really deserted location to a physical attack etc. And, also what your experience has been in finding help - whether from local highway authorities or from a friend or a fellow BHPian.
