I would like to share with you one news about a car getting smashed by a bus and this is one news that I am happy to spread and I feel no pity for the owner of the car.

This incident happened about 2 weeks back near the Nandhini hotel in JP Nagar 6th Phase, Bangalore. I did not witness this incident and I dont think any news about it came on paper too. I would like to request fellow thbhp-ians to share any details or pics if they have.

So, the puttenahalli road was newly asphalted and the BMTC buses and other heavy vehicles started plying on this road instead of the Brigade Millennium road through which they were being diverted for the last 6-8 months. Now the turning in front of green city hospital is such that only one bus from any one side can take a turn at a time and all other vehicles in the opposite side have to stop a bit far back (including 2 wheelers). It seems there was this Alto/800 parked near the hospital and on the road, and the bus couldn't complete the turn. Thanks to this no vehicles could move and there was a huge pile-up. The drivers kept honking for sometime but no one turned up to remove the car.

Finally what happened is straight out of a movie. The bus driver just drove through the car. The car was smashed with the rear windshield flying off in one direction and the car being thrown in another. All this while the rest of the traffic were cheering and egging the bus driver to smash the car further. Just amazing on how things can take a turn and this time for the better. I'm sure the owner of that car would have learnt a lesson that he will not forget for a long long time. :Cheering:

This was told to me by my colleague who live in that area and happened to see the incident. My mom also corroborated with the fact when I told her this and said that her van was in the opposite side of the bus and just in front of that car. She also said that the car in question looked pretty new. Unbelievable but true.

I've always had high esteem for BMTC drivers. This takes it further. In fact from this incident, I see a new methodology that can be adopted by our traffic cops to discourage illegal/bad parkings.

Well lets just say that the car driver was at fault but that doesnt give anyone the right to take law into their hands.

the bus driver did that took matters into his own hands. And since he wont be punished for it, he will keep doing such things thinking he is indestructable.

I wish him all the very best in his endeavor

Yes even I wish him all the best, but do remember to wish him personally when he finds your car.lol:

There's no way the bus driver should go scott free. that will give an aura of false courage to the bus drivers.

It's like the current state if you even cut a call centre cab by mistake the only thing he can think is of taking revenge by cutting you off or purposely tapping and you fleeing. If you were to chase him you would only put your car at risk again.

Even if a car is parked illegally, its not legal to crash against it. Thats how the law works. Lets not say that there will be no action taken against the driver. Are we expecting this way ?
OT: I have heard about videos of the suffering families shown to drivers to make them understand how their callous attitude affects victim's families.

So you are saying if somebody cuts you illegaly you are justified in shooting that person?

You say it was near the Hospital. It may be possible that due to some emergency the owner parked the car that way. Even if that was not the case, it no way justify the bus driver doing what he did. Totally pathetic and shameless. And you are cheering? Didnt expect this from a T-bhpian.

Unbelievable! A car was parked in front of the hospital! Who knows what emergency the driver had? For all we know he could have brought somebody urgently needing attention to the emergency. Ok, he shouldn't have parked the car right there, but believe me, if I brought a close relative or friend to the hospital in an emergency and I had to be with him, I'd park the car at the closest, reasonably non-intrusive place and attend to the person immediately. I'd remove the car to a proper place after I saw to it that the person was in good hands first.

Now lets forget all that about the possible reason. Regardless of the reason, are you telling me you haven't parked a car anywhere illegally in your life? Come on! Nobody deserves to have his car run over by a bus! And that too with the general public egging the bus on. These bus drivers drive somebody else's property and think they can do what they want with it.

The attitude of the public who watched on and supported this is appalling!

Before this turns into a completely burning thread, the evidence of the position where the car was parked from the 1st post in this thread is circumstantial. There's a 50-50 chance of whether the occupants had gone into the hospital. And assuming they had indeed gone into the hospital, most hospital worth their time have some functional parking space inside.

So lets all agree to disagree and leave it at that before this thread goes out of hand.

Even if the occupants dint go inside the hospital and the car was just parked. Even if there wasnt a hospital in the vicinity it still doesnt justify the bus drivers actions.

I dont go around smashing up cars that park in front of my house gate. I have a friend who stays on a main road and almost everyday has a car parked in front of his house. He cant remove his car at all. He calls me up in a really bad mood and tells me he is gonna stone the car or deflate the tyres. I can understand his misery but I always console him into waiting for the driver and giving a mouthful rather than damaging the car.

Damaging would not differentiate us from those unruly, uneducated people who have nothing better to do than to take part in public outcries and take law into their own hands.

And what if there was somebody sleeping/sitting in the car? Like an old person who can't walk much, but was sitting in the car, waiting for his son or somebody to come back from the hospital? Illegally parked, yes. But does that justify murder too? I doubt of the bus driver got down to check before he ran the car over.

And the reason why that car was parked here is immaterial. If this really happened, I really hope something is done about this. Or we'll soon start hearing similar stories from all over Bangalore.

That'd be something, alright! If that happened Tata and Mahindra UV sales would shoot up to an all time high :D

As i said in my first post, even if that was not the case(hospital emergency), it no way justifies what the driver did. Vid and Hydra have already pointed out why.

if it was an emergence why did the driver not park the car inside the hospital? is there space for ambulances inside? wouldnt that have been easier to carry the patient into the hospital? rather than park outside and walk in. i dont know this hospital, so if it dosent have space inside, ignore this :)
as for the bus drivers actions, no comment. he did what he thought was right, everyone one else might disagree. what do you expect from uneducated drivers?
