Re: Honour the drivers & riders that truly impressed you with their skills Growing up, I used to travel a lot by private buses. Some of the drivers were quite good in the way they handled the vehicles, especially the Ashok Leyland buses. Accelerating or braking was always smooth. Maintaining the correct RPM is one of the key lessons I imbibed. Their keyword was efficiency (at least in those years) - neither too fast nor too slow, never rash, driving based on the conditions.
After I myself started driving, I started to respect the truck drivers a lot. They are very accommodating considering the state of their vehicles and the loads they carry, always yield to faster vehicles. They get a lot of brickbats when they occupy all lanes of the road when going uphill. My understanding is that they do it only to conserve whatever little momentum they have, not with an express intention of blocking other vehicles. |
