Re: Truck blown up at Sevoke Bridge for web series shooting This is simply unpardonable! The "explosion loving" web series director and the crew involved need to be booked under relevant sections of the IPC and The Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 (amendments in 1987) including attempt to destroy public property (it could be a heritage property too), throttle the movement of traffic on a busy thoroughfare that connects to other parts of North Bengal, Sikkim and also India to Bhutan, public nuisance, causing air and water pollution and so on. If law enforcement officials are involved for being hand in glove, they also need to be severely punished.
This bridge was built in 1941 and could be covered under the Ancient Monuments and Archeological Sites and Remains Act, 1958. Punishments include fines of Rs 5000/- to Rs 1 L and a jail term of upto two years.
The report says that a lady of the crew Chaitali Bandopadhyay, line producer has been arrested and Bejoy Nambiar the director who was trying to flee has been trapped by the police. This is encouraging as it is revealed that no permission was taken for the criminal act.
These days much better special effects can be generated through IT rather than using such crude and potentially damaging techniques for so called thrills.
