Saddled with the burden of higher rate of road accidents and traffic indiscipline, the Maharashtra Motor Vehicles Transport Department is now introducing Artificial Intelligence based tests for driving lessons and Mumbai is among the 17 locations in the state automated driving test tracks would be built, integrated with AI software for minimal human intervention.

When will they ever learn? Automated or AI-based driver licence testing produces the worst kind of drivers possible, as discussed in this thread (Why automated driving licence testing in India produces dangerous drivers). Nowhere in the world does such a test happen. The countries where the most rigorous tests happen, depend on actual road tests and very stringent criteria for a learner to pass. And here in Delhi, they've already found a workaround to get you your DL without your being tested, for the tidy sum of Rs.5000.
