Re: Rohit Sharma caught speeding on Mumbai-Pune Expressway in his Lamborghini

@ aseem23

Sir, this is not in good taste. This is not moral policing, it is about calling a spade, a spade.

Extreme parallels(Apologies in advance): All people who condemn gun culture and gun wielding n gun trotting thugs. Most of them wont have even touched a gun, leave alone firing or owning one. It gives one immense feel of power. Marksmanship is great fun and gives great adrenaline rush, but we normally do it on designated firing ranges. Those who don’t follow this basic tenet are called terrorists or criminals. Imagine police and other forces (suppose to be leading by example) start taking pot shots in public.

This thread is so hot because it involves a celebrity, however, I am intrigued and appalled by the fact as to how so many Bhp’ians are endorsing over speeding, again because it was done by a celebrity. I thought it was against the forum ethos to even boast of such doings leave alone justifying it.

While I say this, I accept I am no saint and have been fined for unmentionably high speeds. However, I believe I have evolved to be a much better driver now.

The ‘Chalta Hai’ attitude is what plagues our system. 100 to 120 is a twenty percent error, would you accept it while receiving or paying money. If today 120 is acceptable, for some 122, then 123 and so on and so forth would be ‘marginally high and acceptable’ errors. Slowly we will lose the ability to point out what is wrong.

The roads would be much safer, stress free and free flowing if all just stick to the defined laws. We have evolved from speed limits of 80 kmph to 120 kmph. In future as infra improves even higher speeds will be legal. Lets give it a chance.

Apologies to all esteemed members of the forum who have a different point of view and find this post in bad taste.

Re: Rohit Sharma caught speeding on Mumbai-Pune Expressway in his Lamborghini

I always wondered why celebrities are always morally wrong if they break a law in a same way an ordinary person does. Enough has been said in this post but the way we look at situation is
- Mr X (an ordinary unknown simple guy) driving at 200kmph
Our reaction - “So? He should be fined”
- Rohit Sharma driving at 200kmph
Reaction - “he should be jailed and banned from playing cricket for life”

Driving over 200 kmph + if it was another country, cricket team captain or not, he would be cooling his heels in the lock up, also he would be removed immediately from the cricket team.

He being the national team captain should display some level of maturity and responsibility being a role model for youngsters !

Just like you, me and others, he was driving a car and while at it, going too fast. Let law take it course instead of moral policing.
Exactly. I do not see a news report every time a tractor drives in the high speed lane in the wrong direction on a national highway. Just because its an expensive car and its a celebrity, you have moral policing. I am sure those tractor drivers have not paid any kind of fine or challan.

Re: Rohit Sharma caught speeding on Mumbai-Pune Expressway in his Lamborghini

I find this act of driving at 200+ km/hr speeds on road with speed limit of 100 km/hr as criminal offence as it has put the lives at risk of people in other vehicles carrying families including children. Whoever was driving irrespective of status, belief and origin should be prosecuted as per rules of land. Being an icon of most loved sport of country doesn’t mean it’s allowed to disregard the law and safety of others. Reflects on individuals thought process and basic civic sense.

Since people are incapable of reading anything beyond the previous comment, would the moderation team be kind enough to add the actual speeds he was caught doing to the title of the thread?
