Honestly, it's getting very confusing how many projects are in flow across this city.
You are right. This is part of the PRR phase 2 which connects Hosur to Tumkur road. Since it was a BDA layout, they did this part.

re: Bangalore: 10-lane toll-free road to cut travel time between Mysore Road & Magadi Road to 10 mins

Politicians here deserve an award for making absurd promises—a 10-lane toll-free road might sound unbelievable to people in other cities.

Do note that past promises have included cable pods, an underground tunnel, or even bike ambulances!

It reminds me that many past projects have been in the pipeline for so long that they’ve reached "marriageable age" but are yet to see the light of day.

This "10-lane in 10 minutes" promise is just another addition to the list of outrageous claims, if it's part of PRR see how old PRR is

re: Bangalore: 10-lane toll-free road to cut travel time between Mysore Road & Magadi Road to 10 mins

In 2 months time, if BDA/BBMP fixes the roads that are already dug up for laying Kaveri water line, then it will be their great achievement. The crushed stones were laid 3 months back. Till now there is no scent of dambar (tar). The stones are all scattered already. When they pour the tar, there will be no stone there. And the tar that would be poured will have thickness lesser than cream/powder smeared on our face.

If they are more ambitious - In 2 months let them fix the potholes on Bannerghatta road - from Nice road junction to Adugodi signal. It's the worst ever major road in the world. Sorry, this statement is non-negotiable. It's a hard earned title by the poor road. Don't try to snatch it by citing the road conditions of other cities.
But alas! There is no reason (aka election) round the corner to even superficially (i.e. with shelf life of 2 weeks) fix the road. Sometimes I wonder if this road is the sole reason for lower rating of IIMB in FT rankings. We all know that it's difficult to get into IIM's, but do we know that it's true in literal terms?! One needs to take a Six Flags like roller coaster ride to reach the prestigious institute. Indeed difficult to get in!

If they are day-dreaming like Saleem Pheku in Angrez movie, then they can do the wishful thinking of constructing this new 10.8 km, 10 lane corridor in 2 months.. err.. even 20 years.

The roadworks can very easily be seen on Google Maps.

The one I have highlighted in Yellow is the new, upcoming road. The blue one is Nice road between Mysore and Magadi roads. The entry point is barely a km away from the entry ramp of nice road.

The yellow bit. That's it. What a pointless waste!

Bangalore: 10-lane toll-free road to cut travel time between Mysore Road & Magadi Road to 10 mins-mar.jpg

Isn't most of this road already done as PRR Phase 2? (follow along left of the blue markup)

Ironical that Phase 1 is yet to start and phase 2 is nearing completion, especially when phase 1 is the real need and phase 2 is just parallel to NICE road (and not that far either)

Anybody who uses the route or is likely to, could you explain how this helps over and above the neighboring NICE road? Is it just that it will be toll-free?

re: Bangalore: 10-lane toll-free road to cut travel time between Mysore Road & Magadi Road to 10 mins

One of my relatives is into the construction and sale of independent houses. Recently, when we met, he spoke about Kempegowda layout lacking development due to poor connectivity from all parts of Bangalore. This layout did not reach its expected growth, so politicians would go to any extent to promote real estate business in Kempegowda layout. This proposal is in line with the expectations of the builder mafia. It is good that a 10-lane road is being built for connectivity between Mysore Road and Magadi Road, but delayed land acquisitions near Kannalli, Kodigehalli, and Machohalli have led to the creation of unauthorized layouts along this proposed project. This happens to be my weekend walking route.

Brings to mind this popular meme “One More Lane Will Fix It”

re: Bangalore: 10-lane toll-free road to cut travel time between Mysore Road & Magadi Road to 10 mins

Which areas are suffering with poor infrastructure and too much of traffic? Bellandur, silkboard, marathahalli, whitefield, sarjapur road, HSR, Varthur, Electronic city, BTM, Koramangala, KR puram, mahadevapura, old airport road etc.

Where are they solving the problem? Somewhere far from IT areas.

Because they don't care about migrant population. Why they don't care about migrant population? Voting turnout percentage is less than 40%.

Verdict: Its complicated.

Example: For the people who don't know, Infosys and other companies were started in Electronic city in 1992, EC has grown significantly post that. But even today EC do not have metro connectivity, last few months delay is because of coaches not being available. But why metro wasn't prioritized to any of the IT areas, is pretty clear.

You forgot to mention the most famous landmark of Bangalore. What became popularly known as The Bangalore Stonehenge.

The Ejipura flyover which started in 2017 and still is nowhere close to completion. One contractor abandoned and subsequently terminated. The second one was chosen as the lone bidder and then there were mentions in media that the government wanted to terminate that too due to lack of progress. Now as per latest reports they decided not to terminate due to lack of alternatives.

Anyone travelling on that road will know how bad it has been for 8 years.

I believe this new road is built as an arterial road for the Nada Prabhu Kempe gowda layout being developed by the BDA. Given that the NICE road is access controlled all the way from Mysore Road to Magadi Road - it serves a different use case compared to this new road.

A good part of the road is completed barring a few stretches. See example in the map below.

And this huge road ends straight into the compound of the Challaghatta Metro Depot There is no sign of any alternate routing from here.

The other end of the road ends in a residential layout a few hundred meters short of Tumkur road. Whoever planned the alignment of this road must be put behind bars for their stupidity.

re: Bangalore: 10-lane toll-free road to cut travel time between Mysore Road & Magadi Road to 10 mins

Why is there so much confusion on this road?

Its part of PRR phase 2. Since the layout is built by BDA, they cannot do this later by acquiring land etc like they do for farm land.

So they built that part now. Alternative was to leave that part without paving it. Like how the ORR was once upon a time from Silk Board towards HSR.

Where is the land to acquire and fix things in Marathahalli etc? There was no plan and it developed like wild fire.

re: Bangalore: 10-lane toll-free road to cut travel time between Mysore Road & Magadi Road to 10 mins

In the first photo, you can see all the unauthorized layouts formed in the last twenty years. Interestingly a lot of buildings were demolished last month near Janapriya Cross on Magadi Road. The second photo depicts a farm that resisted the land acquisition, don't know who owns that farm, but during my weekend walk last Saturday, I saw an opening through this farm which connects the upcoming 10-lane road. The third photo refers to the developers who knew well before that this 10-lane road would be built at this location. The KNS group which is a ghost company of a powerful state politician is very active along this stretch. There are a lot of private unauthorised layouts from Magadi Road to Tumkur Road, not sure what happens to the people who have built houses in these layouts.

haha. I think, 2 months is for the land acquisition and necessary approvals. Even that is also lightning fast.

Here in Pune, authorities have been making land acquisitions for the outer ring road for the last 2 years. Every 3 to 4 months we are getting new (on whats app) that Ring road work to start soon.

re: Bangalore: 10-lane toll-free road to cut travel time between Mysore Road & Magadi Road to 10 mins

So the next time you face jam in Bengaluru, please take your vehicle to this 10-lane road and drive there instead of complaining that authorities do not build infra enough. If 10 lanes do not solve traffic problems, we don't know what will.

Are you saying we should build 10 lanes where there is more traffic so that it actually helps, like South-East-North wings?

---

The only good thing about this road is that it may take the wheelies' crowd away from the ORR stretch of Nayandahalli - Tumkur Road. Kids can now go there for their stunts.
