Phew !! Am so glad that I am writing this experience without any damage to my car.

Yesterday evening - 2045 hours , I hit the Eastern Express Highway from Mulund and was going towards Chembur. After the Kamanwarnagar flyover - there are 2 signals at the Godrej plant. I clear the first one and approach the second.

This is a 4 lane highway and I am in the right lane, about 3 car lengths behind a bus. The bus turns right into Godrej and the signal turns green as I approach , so I speed up. Meanwhile an Indica which is in the lane left to me gets into the fast lane and accelerates. I accelerate too and hit 70 kmph.

Suddenly I see the Indica applying brakes and the tyres start to screech and the guy is literally struggling to control the car. I instinctively hit the brakes and can steer a bit so that I come to a stop just about an inch behind the Indica - and look into the RVM and see a Palio at full clip trying his level best to stop. I could sense that he was going to go into my rear and all visions of my newly repaired car being crushed between a fleet of cars flashed in front of me.:Shockked:

But thank God - there was less traffic and the lane to the left of me was empty, so the Palio and a couple of cars following the Palio could steer into that lane.

And what was the cause ???

A BLOODY IDIOT DRIVING AN AUTORICKSHAW who decided he wanted to drive in the fast lane and cut across from the 4th lane at 45 degrees right into the path of the Indica.

After that every car slowed down and blasted him with the choicest bad words and I did the same too - and you know what was the look on the guy's face ?

A smirk - like why the hell are these people shouting - are they crazy?

He had a :) on his face.

I was shaken up for 30 mins after that. If only the lane to the left of me was not empty - I would have been in the middle of a 5 car (atleast) pile up !!

These auto guys have to be banned from driving on highways.

EDIT - the auto did not have headlights nor tail lights.

All auto drivers across this country seem to have descended from the same set of retarded ancestors.

But hey, he was going slow so he can't be driving dangerously could he!

But they do have a turn signal - A finger pointing to the turn direction! :)

Seeing the title made me think that you have added another scrap to your list of incidents. Like I said when you were here. Use the Ikon as your daily driver!

I sometimes feel like carrying a whip with me, so that I could lash out at such guys, and change that smirk into a groan! Only merciless beating might change such nitwits, who are infesting our roads.

I think all the car drivers should have thrashed him

They should be banned on the flyovers and the expressways. Fully loaded, they are barely able to climb the flyovers and in the process block the traffic behind them. They are so irritating.

how i wish in an auto they had given a steering (without PS) instead of a handle.atleast they need some time to turn the damn thing.

Hmm, a fist in his face should have sorted out this problem.

One of them must have been a bit promiscuous since some genes seem to be shared by cab drivers and transport three-wheelers.

Have u seen how crows assemble around a crow in need of help..Thats the way auto drivers unite irrespective of the cause..
