While driving home from work today, i noticed a mini bus coming behind me trying to pass me at every little chance he got. In the process, he almost rear ended me once. This is in peak hour rush. So at the next signal, i get down & try to reason with him & make him drive cautiously. His response was very rude to say the least, so i tried to get the nearest traffic constable, but he was too far & the signal had changed. so i got into the car & dialled 103 from my cellphone & informed the control room about this rash driver & gave them the Regn number of his mini bus.

He was stopped at the nest signal which is 150 metres away. The SI who caught him called me back & enquired about the complaint. WHen i explained it to him, he said we will take care of this guy sir. Fantastic immediate response & a very courteous police officer. Thank you CCTP (Chennai City Traffic Police).

Wow!! Thats really encouraging!.
About time that the cops started working like this.
clap:

Wow!! Fantastic. I wish we had few such policemen in Pune. The Pune traffic police is the worst of the lot that I have seen - nobody respects them and nobody has any fear of them.

Your act of calling the police is equally commendable. I think we should all give it a shot, when we encounter such drivers.

That was pretty quick and an encouraging response from the cops John. I wish our bangy cops also get into this mode.

Way to go Cops from Chennai and good job coz my friend John is happy :).

That felt so nice to read. Really.
I wish Cops all over the country would be so efficient.

@John: That describes a stellar performance by the CCTP. If responses of this kind were only consistent, am sure cranky drivers like these would think twice before attempting anything as asinine as what our man attempted in your case.

Thats a really great response from the cops, and @esteem_lover, your effort has to be appreciated.

Measures like these sure will change the 'Dont care attitude' of these 'tough' guys!

Do kolkata have any such system?

Thought the thread would be another bitter experience with the police. But this is real surprising. :)

Wow, that is one great experience. Very surprised to hear the traffic police steping up to prevent rash driving.

Kudos to you dude, you may have saved couple of lives with your wishful thinking.

Never heard of this side of story. Nice to read like this once in a while. Hope the cops all over India will do a job like this.

THis is too good to believe... Catch the bangalore cops doing the same. They will first ask you talk in Kannada before they take any action.

WOW.. That was quick and surprising especially he calling you up after he caught the errant driver. And real guts going upto the guy to tell him to ease of. I always live in fear that if i say anything to them then he will only do it purposely. And is 103 for traffic police?

You called the control room, you must have given the details as to your location? Whats amazing is that the information was relayed to the right officer at the right time and place.

Now how much of an effor you had to put in explainging the co-ordinates?

Exactly what WAS your complaint? Why were the police stopping him? To me this is very unclear from your post. Was he drunk? Rudeness is not a crime, it is free speech......like it or not.
