My uncle is very strict with this number. Even our Petra has this number.

Given a choice, I Would've stuck myself to 7171.

we had a '95 M800 Standard with the number 18.

When we wanted to sell it in 2000, we took it our mechanic and he got a customer for 1.15L. We wanted 1.25L, but the same time, another man who came to the workshop to service his old(84/85) m800, who was listening gave us the offer of 1.25L saying that the number 18 attracted him.!!! sold the vehicle to him next day. So much to the number '9'.

BTW my bike number got 7164, divisible by 9 in the random order. I didnt apply nor paid for this number. (yeah!, the bike showroom folks took 800/- for the TR and registration charges though)

Re: Pechant for the Number 9

I was wondering if my family was the only one who had this thing, until I saw this thread
My family likes 9 (adding up to 9) mainly, and then 7,6,3,1 etc. My Corolla Altis sports 9009.

I don't know why, but they avoid number combinations adding upto 4 mainly, and also 8 too. I just don't know why. They just refuse to grab the sweetest of deals on cars and bikes, just because the number adds up to 4 and 8. Last week on the hunt for a Zen, we had to avoid a clean example, that too full option, and MPFI too, just because the number was 9877, which adds up to 4.

Now, even I have this phobia, and I add up numbers of every cars that pass by me. Guess, it has to do with family traditions. Moreover, someone very close to our family had a major accident in their Alto which had the number 8365, which adds up to 4. They had injuries, and the car was totalled.
So, even I would avoid 4 and 8, in my future car purchases, even if I get sweet deals on pre-owned cars.

Anyone else here has this mind-problem?

I like both 5 & 9.

My vehicle number has been 959 from my first moped onwards. I always pay 20k now and block my number.

This number has become almost like a signature for me now.

Over the years my friends, family & acquaintances have spotted this registration number and have actually looked around for me.
