There was not point in showing off these relay. Many people have opted out of this. I feel only the politicians were interested in hosting this event. Moreover, China informed they will arrange their own security for this torch relay. But it was good thing that our MEA snubbed them out. All tv channels and newspapers had made this a big issue as if there is nothing else happening in and around them. These kind of events are waste of money and time and nobody bothers for these events except politicans and news channels as they will get some masala to report.

As if the Indian government is wasting money for the first time. No one utters a word when Mayati spends crores erecting hers and her mentor statue in the middle of the capital. We only speak up when "we" are directly affected.
Apathy for human life in India is just disgusting. A news paper carried a report somedays back in which a a biker had an accident in Noida and while he needed urgent medical attention, he was left lying there for over 2 hours just because the police were fighting among themselves on their areas of jurisdiction. And just like everything else, it was just a news and it died its natural death without affecting anyone, even the media. We shout and cry when harbhajan is abused, the media carries front page news, channels dedicate hours of air time describing every detail, real issues are left behind for a few of us to ponder. It sucks! I am not a proud Indian anymore.

to every point of yours. It sucks to be an Indian after hearing such kind of issues. We dream of bettering ourselves than americans or the europeans. Firstly, we should learn of some civic sense and then we can dream of these things.
