I can't see how Chennai's drivers can be changed tomorrow, or next week, or next year even, but starting now with proper driving lessons compulsory, and a proper, failable, driving test, would be a great investment for the future.

At the same time, move to get the people who don't even have licences off the road.

As to the night-time signals; yes, it would be a good idea, but no, people ignoring them just increases the danger.

I disagree with those saying that the world can be changed in one generation with education.

In Africa they have a saying that it takes another two generations to change completely. The logic goes like this. The present generation are too set in their ways and education can change them maybe 25% tops.

The next generation, i.e, those who are about 20 to 30 now have learnt from watching their elders, the present generation, and can be changed about 50%.

The third generation, the ones who are toddlers now, can be taught 100% as they are being educated in things the right way from the beginning.

I do truly wish this wasn't so, but then I guess they don't call them old jungle sayings for nothing.lol:

Anyway, here in Bangalore, all traffic signals become flashing amber after about 10 pm at night.
