U-Turn Indicator
(
https://www.team-bhp.com/forum/street-experiences/47481-u-turn-indicator.html)
Hi People
Just a very simple question Why don't we have U turn indicator? We have signals to inform the rear driver about cars turning left or right then why not for U turns? IMHO it would be very useful specially on Indian roads.
Your comments will be appreciated
Thanks
Amit
U-turn is a right turn.
Case closed
are you talking about left-Uturn or right-uturn indicator?? :)-)

Hi
Good question, infact for both.
amit
U turn is indicated using right indicator on your vehicle plus your right hand signalling the U turn (remember the RTO lessons dueing DL test). At night the right indicator itself will do.
Maybe an amber coloured indicator on both the tail lamps??

I would assume that the best option be an alternate flashing of the brake light and right/left indicator according to which U turn one was taking.

This is an amazing concept and will integrate into the conti. Same as the flashing red lights on an F1 car during rains. It makes more sense than just a continuous glow.
Write the word "O" in air while taking right U turn. :)
Left 'U' turn
EDIT: Clock wise if its right U turn and anti-clockwise if its left U turn (restrictions he he)
How about a u shaped indicator.........lol:,just kidding

exactly, i was thinking on the similar lines. But it is quite strange why till now this has not been incorporated by OEM's?
Thanks

U-turn is NOT a simple right turn. Its better to have a U-turn signal. But, considering the way we use signals, i'm afraid it'll be rarely used.
U-turning traffic is slower than right turning traffic, if you've noticed.
So if you're taking a right turn and the vehicle in front takes a u-turn you might have to slow down further.

And to add further to what you said - very often on slightly narrow roads cars with large turning radius and larger vehicles need to move to the left before beginning the U turn. I've seen this often confuses vehicles coming from behind and this ends up creating a dangerous situation.
Some form of indication for a U turn would be welcome!

I guess its not being incorporated by OEM's because people have never demanded it and it may affect the looks of the car,but yeah thats not a big issue because if fitted sensibly it should not affect the looks.Cheers:)

Hi viper
I cent per cent agree with, this is quite often suffered specially in narrow roads when a vehicle like Tavera indicates signal for right turn but actually takes a U turn.
In case there is a U-turn indicator, the rear vehicle would be able to keep appropiate distance between the two vehicles.
