There are no pics in the website. But it was on the paper. Got to say that car withstood the impact pretty well. That for a ram from train....

All I can say is "Please don't try this with your palio".

And I wonder if they couldn't even hear the train? Its not that trains are that silent - especially when near a crossing.

Just plain lucky the occupants of Palio were. A train ramming into a car and the results are more often than not, fatal. Never even take the risk of crossing those unmanned rail tracks without looking carefully.
And I dont know why people break those walls, barriers, etc and go for this suicidal path.
I think the case must be filed against the car driver.

But why did they do this? Take a illegal crossing!

Dumb & Dumber! Hence proved, education does not ensure common sense!

It was in the local news yersterday - saw the car too !

True, Palio showed its characters:
1. Car broke down on level crossing
2. Occupants couldn't get out - maybe the doors were jammed.
3. Car withstood the impact with train, though its a writeoff

Hats off to Palio for living its tradition

The Occupants are lucky to have survived the crash. Had it been any other car, it could have been bad.

The Palio's build has proven its worth here.

Thanks for the advice mate, actually after reading the news I am already on a look out for a unmanned railway crossing around NCR.

Please read through the news article before drawing your own conclusions
1) The car did not broke down . The couple had stooped the car in nervousness.
2)The doors did not jam .
3)Yes the car took the impact very well

The occupants escaped with minor injuries.
Just an example of FIAT design and engineering

The train was slowing down. The driver himself said that in the interviews on kannada news. It was pushed through.
The car was stuck, he revved and could not get out of it.

Palio was in no way responsible for the irresponsible and stupid behaviour by the driver.

At what speed and angle did the train hit the car?

I think we should call Top Gear guys to India and make them repeat this test on cars from different makes. The hit should be done at different speeds and angles. It will be fun.
