No street lights yet on this flyover.

Official inauguration is reportedly on January 26th. By then, I am sure, it will have all those features.

I have noticed today that there are no street lights yet on this flyover. This will be a night mare in the night near the 'T' junction:eek:. They could have atleast put up high mast lights near the 'T' junction IMO.

Nallagandla Flyover is now open for public. However, there are no signs/lane markings yet on this flyover. Considering it is a T-junction flyover, we have to be really careful at the top.

Still, great news for the residents of Lingampally/Nallagandla areas.

I have used this newly built flyover this morning:D. The roads on both sides of the divider are very wide. But the 'T' junction is very dangerous:Shockked:. Since the railing of the flyover are very high (reaching upto 6 feet), the drivers need to be very careful when they reach the 'T' junction. IMO, there should put up speed-breakers near the 'T' junction.

The entire stretch from around the Nissan showroom in Gachibowli till mind space and beyond till cyber towers junction was on near standstill when I came around 6 pm. It might have cleared by now, since I saw similar block on the two previous occasions I took this route this week around the same time.

The below is the latest news on the Army road blockade in the Contonement area of Secunderabad. The Roads would be closed during day time too.

Source link:http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/c...w/45589961.cms

HYDERABAD: With the Army proposing to close two roads in the Secunderabad Cantonment for civilian traffic from January 1, 2015, civic officials and traffic police on Saturday carried out a joint inspection to find alternative roads around the AOC Centre. The Army has decided to close the Wellington Road and Gough Road to civilian traffic from January 1.

After the nearly 90-minute visit, the officials requested the Army authorities to defer their plan to close roads as alternative roads were too narrow to take the traffic load and formation of new roads would take at least 18 months.

The team, which included GHMC commissioner, Somesh Kumar, Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) chief executive officer Sujatha Gupta, Hyderabad additional CP (Traffic), Jitender, Hyderabad joint collector Sanjeevaiah and GHMC engieer-in-chief, Dhan Singh, visited AOC Centre, EME Centre, Safilguda junction, Wellington Road and R K Puram flyover.

"The aim behind the joint inspection is to check feasibility of allowing civilian traffic on alternative routes in view of the proposed restrictions from January 1, 2015. Also, the High Court has given directions to GHMC to identify alternate roads. The GHMC also conducted a study to identify alternate routes and steps to be taken following closure of roads in AOC and EME centers. The GHMC also submitted the report to the High Court on December 12," GHMC commissioner Somesh Kumar told the media after the inspection.

He said lakhs of commuters and locals of residential colonies would face problems in case the Army goes ahead with their proposed blockade.

"It is not easy either to form new roads or take up road widening of existing roads as they were linked to various issues, including land acquisition. Moreover, we need defence land at various areas for right of way. In fact, the study revealed that alternative routes were congested and not feasible to take traffic," the GHMC commissioner added.

The GHMC commissioner said they would require defence land from AOC and EME Centre to lay 100-feet road between Safilguda railway gate and Wellington road, 60-feet road between Wellington Road and Trimulgherry Road near Hanuman temple along southern and western periphery of AOC Centre. Simultaneously, 100-feet road between Trimulgherry junction and RK Puram 'road over bridge' (All Saints Road) on the northern periphery of AOC centre, 60-feet road between Safilguda railway gate and RK Puram RoB on eastern periphery of AOC Centre, 60-feet road between Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan and R K Puram RoB on eastern periphery of EME Centre.

The GHMC has already sent an official communique to General Officer-in-Commanding (GO-in-C), Andhra Sub Area, Maj Gen CA Pithawala to provide defence land to form new roads. "In case, they hand over land to us now, it will take at least one-and-half years to form the road," the commissioner said.

"Till new road formation, the Army has to put on hold traffic restrictions proposed from January 1, 2015," the GHMC commissioner pleaded. Governor ESL Narasimhan would convene a high-level meeting on December 26 to review the issue, the commissioner added.

Hyderabad additional commissioner of police Jitender said, "Over 3.5 lakh people, including commuters and locals, travel on roads the Army proposes to impose traffic restrictions. I have sent a letter to the GOC stating the volume of vehicles plying (in a day) and condition of roads. The existing roads in Secunderabad Cantonment are too congested and not feasible to take the additional traffic load. The Army has to do a rethink on their civilian traffic restriction plan."

SCB chief executive officer Sujatha Gupta said, "We have sent a factual report to the High Court regarding road condition and volume of traffic plying in cantonment roads. We have to go with military authorities and civilians in a balanced way on this issue."

Metro works have really screwed up traffic over the past week near Nirankari Bhavan at Lakdikapul. Even on a scooter I found it a pain to go towards Ravindra Bharati, so i've been taking the longer route via IMAX over the past week.

My nephew from the US got a taste of the logjam when he took a bus from NIMS on Saturday towards Uppal via Lakdikapul. It took him 90 minutes to traverse 3 kms! But when I dropped him early morning at RGIA yesterday, it took us only 4 minutes!lol:

Another update: the U turn opposite KFC on Raj Bhavan Road was closed by cops today to manage crowds visiting the home of the deceased ex-minister, Venkataswamy. I hope it will be restored tomorrow.

Noticed an unusual hike of traffic in the evenings (6pm onwards) in last couple of days especially from Jubilee Check-post towards Nagarjuna Circle and Panjagutta.
Today it took me 20mins from Hitec City to Check-post and then almost 50mins to Panjagutta circle.

Not very sure why, since morning trip in other direction have been relatively clearer, which we would expect possibly because of Christmas week.
But evenings in reverse have been compensating for this in more proportion.

Due to ongoing pillar works for the Metro, Ameerpet has got the following traffic restrictions for some time :

1) The green line below shows the new bus route from Begumpet side to Mythrivanam side. A right turn has been created at Lal Bungalow into the lane which was one way to exit but is now one way in the reverse direction with only entry. For return bus route, no changes have been made. For cars and bikes, no changes have been imposed.

2) The road from the Ameerpet Temple till Ameerpet Junction as marked red below has been closed to all traffic and is now one way for the return traffic only.
