Walking past Josephs on Lalbagh Road.

Traffic jammed up on the left, footpath is a mere three feet wide - it is a joke. Find a motobike riding the foot path. I block him

"Where the hell do you expect me to go?"

He indicates me to walk past.

I say "nothing doing, get on the road"

He refuses

I lose it, sntch his keys and throw it into the traffic

"(expletives about my parentage etc - not for forum)"

I walk further up and turn right into my lane

He comes trundling up wrong way on the one way - he found the key and really ripped around the block - good 0.5 km

Gets off bike

"Who the hell are you to touch my bike?"

"Who the hell are you to ride on the pavement?"

He starts pushing me, I walk on , pushes me

" (parentage expletives, maternal relationship expletives)"

Whole road staring
I am laughing at him

"You are really making a fool of yourself!"

I walk on - hope he does not return!

This is how these people need to be treated.
I hope he has learned something from today and never ride on a footpath again.

I have seen even the traffic cops riding on the pavement in MG road and 100 feet road.

I had even seen a cop slide under under a railway crossing with his bike to get to the other side. The watcher just kept looking.

Sir, i can understand the frustration, but it may not be a good idea to get into direct encounters like this with such nut-cracks (in the interest of personal safety). Just not worth the trouble : your personal safety should come first : let that idiot get on with his lousy life as is.

Agreed, on hindsight, it was not a good idea but I got pretty frustrated

@ajmat: Had a very similar experience a few years back. Reading your post reminded of the same incident. Walking on footpath amid traffic, and bike guy wants to use the footpath as road. Same stuff.. ditto, word to word.
Just one addition, I was even told that "You outsiders are coming to our state and eating our money away".
There are some individuals who are sick, best is not to argue with them. You were lucky, since another friend of mine had a similar incident and ended up with a few blows.
At times one has to let go of things, and realize that we cannot stoop to their levels

And don't ever call your dad and tell him you snatched someone's keys.

I had to go back and scout the area to return the keys.

Stupid scooter wallah with no brakes left a tiny scratch/dent on my car.
I took his keys and returned to my car. Waited for almost 1 min as the Signal was red. He never came to claim his keys.

I am not that scary looking.

Please post a note that it is not always a safe move. Once i snatched somebody's keys because he hit my car and what happened next is a bad memory for the rest of my life...

Traffic in Bombay is going crazy- its come to a point where Wrong is Right- and the way to be. Brash, insolent and at times, jut plain ignorance is grinding this city to a halt- and i thinks its whats going to happen to all cities in the times to come.
Its becoming a common occurrence these days, when i often find myself getting out of my car, walking up to the guy and ACTUALLY giving him some advice to navigate out of the traffic.

As mentioned, I lost it, I will never do this again - it is not safe, that too it was outside my house

Taking somebody's key can make you end up as a thief too. I have seen this case personally in front on a popular theater ( multiplex ). My word is not to do this. Most of the times people who ride on footpaths are not known to have high standards and one can end up in trouble.

Avoid hot tempered arguments. Rather its nice if we use the same temper when we see some neta's car with sirens on the cars ruling the road. We must use our temper on them and break the siren light on mounted on the vehicle.

Same here swamygale , I am waiting for a chance to catch hold of one of these brain-dead chaps someday riding on the footpath.
Worst part is that , most these fellas are educated.

I'd definitely not do it outside my own house. You wouldn't want a stone through your windshield, wouldja?

You never know with some low-lifes.
