a tip for all

god forbid you to experience this kind of a situation ever but just in case your vehicle's doors don't open up, simply kick the windscreen hard with your feet. they are designed to come off when applied pressure from inside. the windshield just falls down on the bonnet and you can easily climb out of the car.

...possibly not if it jammed under the back of a truck!

But otherwise, I'll try to remember that one; thanks.

I think this accident has attracted attention due to the gruesome nature. Bluntly, the trapped and burnt alive bit. If it had been a very new and wildly valuable BMW, then I think that would have attracted a different sort of attention.

But still, what happens to a vehicle in a crash is hard to consider without taking into account the vehicle, and people's expectations of a BMW are high.

Just finished a 3350 Km trip from Ahmedaabd-Delhi-Shimla-Kalpa-Chitkul and back and kept a heavy adjustable wrenth under the seat all the time as a take away from this incident. Also kept a hwak-eye for those lumbering giant trailers which are capable of crushing you against the deviders just when you are overtaking, some of them just don't move away and keep blocking the entire road for minutes!!!!!!!!!!

This is crazy and scary. 4 people burnt to death in a BMW. And just look at the pics, BMW turns into ashes. Just can't imagine, what would have happened to the people inside. How couldn't the driver notice the huge truck ahead?

Whatever speed you drive at, but would always have an eye on the vehicle ahead, unless something suddenly appears infront. As for me, if driving at high speed I have an eagles eye on the road and everything ahead of me.

Very true!! No discipline on India roads. A strict rigor on lane driving would definitely help in reducing such accidents. All heavy vehicles should take the extreme left lane and high speeding vehicles the extreme right.

Possible hidden cause of fire/explosion.

The place where this accident took place is in on the way to my factory, i had seen this car next early morning into ash. It was heard from tea/bidi stall of this car carrying thinner barrel (explosive in nature). I wonder what they intended.

Hey Vivek: How much did you pay for it. Did you order it online or picked it up from a store.

Car carrying combustable materials? Thinner Barrel........... you mean a barrel containing thinner? That's pretty dangerous stuff in a high speed collision!!!!

This gives a new angle into this, I was thinking how can a modern day car burn down to ashes so quickly?

left and right power sliding doors. We are pampered

EDIT: that's not just boot release, that's hatch door open/close remotely. I had a video of my car somewhere with all of them opening at once taken from my balcony.

I dont know if someone has thought about it already but the Headrest that can come out has a steel rod and can be used to break the glass.
