No, ECR toll gates are still using cash. Fastag has not been implemented yet (Neither has the hardware been installed as of today).

I'm not sure about OMR (but it is probably the same case)

I was told that these are state run toll plazas hence won't accept fastag. This was as of yesterday.

The bridge on Usman road has been scraped a few days ago and left as is. The height difference between the scraped road and the expansion joints are almost 3-4 cms which leads to an extremely rough ride. I wonder why they haven't completed the laying of the asphalt soon after the scraping was completed? If it were because of the holidays, then why start it when it would be known that there would be issues with manpower?

That's interesting. There was news of ECR and OMR toll gates to start accepting Fastag earlier this year, even though they're run by TNRDC.

All we can do is wait patiently for it to unfold; seems like these folks love taking their own sweet time to implement things.

I have already bought one directly from PayTm customer care centre. Planning to use it during this weekend Pondy trip for the first time.

I used my PayTm Fastag for the first time on 28th December during a drive to Pondicherry. It worked flawlessly. Rs 60, 55, and 45 were deducted at the Paranur, Athur and Pondicherry Toll plazas. As part of the Metro rail project, there were soil tests carried out on the Mount Poonamallee road (St. Thomas mount area). After the drilling was completed, the drill hole was covered with cement. However, they did not keep the filling till the level of the road. As is normal practice with drain manhole covers, they filled it higher than the level of the road. Consequently, each one of them is at least 1 or 2 cm above the level of the road and in some cases almost an inch above. These are extremely harsh on the tyres. At the least, these protrusions could be shaved off.

Most pathetic decision by the CCTP. This signal is again blocked. So, there is no right turn on to the Annasalai. Take U turn at the nandanam/chamiers road signal to hop on to the Annasalai towards LIC.

What is more pathetic is the Signal is always on Red and the road users stop there hoping it will turn Green stopping the people behind wanting to take a U turn on to the Cenotaph road. :Frustrati

Something for you Chennai folks - If this news is to be believed, "Chennai is the noisiest among the six metro cities!"

Quite hard to believe! Why the hell did Mumbai police then install those decibel-meter controlled signals?

The only reason I believe this might actually be true is because Chennai has lower number of trees compared to other cities. Those leaves and branches help in absorbing some noise.
