Convex mirrors on the Sigur Ghats- Now Stolen.

I am sure most of the people who have traveled on the Sigur Ghats of recent would have noticed convex mirrors on all the 36 bends.

Apart from serving its primary purpose of safety, it added great beauty to these bends. These were erected on all the bends. Yes, on all the 36 bends.

I drove up this road this morning and noticed that most of the mirrors have been stolen. These mirrors have either been robbed or removed by motorist who frequent these roads. Its a shame.

That sucks! Someone was once telling me of how the Japanese traffic police have installed video cameras. And that they've turned out very effective in nailing errant drivers.

My reply : They'd be flicked in an hour in India, casing modified, and then used as personal video cameras! The irony....

The price of trying to implement something good to help the public. This happens only in India, where people just don't want to use new & useful methods to help prevent accidents & save lives.

@beejay, you are a local and know better - still -

How are we sure that they have been stolen?
Maybe the officials who put it up have removed it?

Murali, I had seen it on all the bends. Now some are missing.

There are some bends which just have the post and only the mirrors are missing. On some bends even the posts have been robbed.
