I was coming back from work late this afternoon, cruising in my CJ on the worli seaface. This shiny silver thing in my rear view mirror kept getting bigger and bigger at a horrendous pace...I just knew it had to be something special!!

Lo and behold - THE MIGHTY SL55 AMG!!! Trust me, this guy was really ripping it apart. We stopped at a red light, and the second the light turned green HE FLOORED IT!!!! Whatta exhaust rumble...It sounded straight out of the American muscle car studios.

I never expected a Mercedes to sound like a muscle car...but heck, whos complaining?

GTO

Btw he was checking out my Jeep too

Hey GTO

Yeah the SL55 AMG is very popular around Saturday nights too. He usually rips at the seaface not to mention Marine Drive. Great rumble too. Wouldnt want to see him race against the 355 someday

What say ?

Cheers

Hey Guys,
What do u think of the SL55 AMG ? Would u rather have an SL or an CL in AMG terms? The Sliver SL55 AMG has done 254 Km/H on the Expressway and completed it in 16 Minutes Flat. Gives an Avg of abt 2.5 Km/L and is really AWESOMMMEE with the Hardtop Down.

Those are some figures you got there RG. Completing the xpress stretch in 16 mins flat is something we can only dream of.

oh if you wanna see a merc growl, come to delhi I am rash our merc back home..i have raced our E230 against the vtec(my friend's) you should hear the engine at high revs..sounds furious.. (more like what the hell u doing to me, i am suppose to be a lax car)...that was fun..

i have even raced the S with another E on a crowded road, so speed was not the question..but its fun when even perfect machines growl..the current E has a much smoother engine than the prev gen..but i still love the prev gen more..a much better car in terms of what merc stands for..that is luxurious space..the new is just too small for my taste from the inside..

Cheers

I would prefer tha CL55..though my wife would prefer the SL55...also i was thinking hell if you have that kind of money..why would u pick..dont u think u would buy both I would..

if i had that kind of money I think my choices would be

1. S600
2. CL65
3. SL55
5. CLS
6. X5
7. Range Rover
8. Hummer H2
9. M3
10. Maserati Quattraporte

Lets not get into the exotics here but this would be my pick...so there u go..picked both

Out of the CL or the SL, It would undoubted be the SL.

You say that the SL did the expressway in 16 minutes, but which section? If it was the section from Panvel to the Lonavla, thats approximately 35 kms. Doing that distance in 16 minutes is an average of 131 km/hr. Fast but not SL55 fast.

But if it was the distance uptil pune.....oh boy, the sl was not driving fast - IT WAS FLYING TOO LOW

Hey

Impressive figures for the SL but like GTO said what was the section of the Expressway covered? I would go for the SL over the CL anyday , however the I have a special place in my heart for the earlier generation SL, the one the current one replaced .

A little twist on that again. On a personal note, at the cost of the SL 55 I would rather pick up a Ferrari 355 or a 360 . Nothing like a mid engined sportscar .

Ultimately it ones own choice. But ween the 2 RG mentioned has to be the SL55

Cheers
