The AMG vs M Power fire in another board reminded me of my stint in a C32 AMG. Read on for the details

The C Class track day was an excellent marketing exercise by Mercedes benz, inviting people to come and rip apart specially prepared C's, with no sales pressure whatsoever.

I had a total of 12 laps that day. The first three were in a C240 Kompressor, and man I was pushed back to my seat with the sheer acceleration. I spent three laps getting familiarised with the cars behavior, handling and power delivery. The next three were in the mighty C320 and boy, did I burn some rubber all along!! I tried 1.5 laps with the "ESC" switched on and the car just would not lose traction - COME WHAT MAY! Then I put the computers off, and it was fun sliding the rear end out on almost each and every corner!!! My next three laps were in the C32 AMG, but before you dial my number and ask me to explain to you the experience over the phone........I didnt get to drive it :-( The AMG's were only for riding along with Mercedes's own drivers, but hey..........Everytime that guy cornered, I thought I am going to be a part of the wall!! 300 bhp in the hands of a skilled driver are really to be experienced yourself to know the feeling. The part that really amazed me was that even though he was ripping her up since 6 hours, there was still no hint whatsoever of brake fade.

My final three laps were in the wets, where this fool was trying his best to control the enthusiasm of the "budding" race drivers. He was literally banning those guys who drove real fast, so I saved my hot lap in the wets for my final lap of the day.........and man, you should have seen his face when he saw me sliding the C320 all around in the wets (I almost swapped ends on one hairpin). He came up to me to blackmark my C Class pass, but I just gave him some real piece of my mind and tons of attitude before walking away. He must still lose sleep over that....

All in all, one of my best automotive days ever...

The highlight was that it was a race weekend, and Mercedes had all these marketing guys (who didnt even know how to spell Formula 1) in their Mclaren - Mercedes caps. You can imagine the look on their faces when a certain enthusiast came in a Schumacher cap to rip their babies on the track!

Speedsatya, the emphasis was more on handling than outright speed (for safety reasons). Thus the max I would have touched woule be 60 - 70 mph. But the AMG ride was faster.
