on saturday, i had gone with a couple of my friends to watch the k1000 rally about 120 kms outside bangalore. on the way back, there are about 3 or 4 railways crossings. at one of these crossings, there was a huge traffic jam and a lot of cars and trucks were stuck. immediatley after this crossing, we get a six lane highway which is about 3 kms long and very wide and very smooth.

i was driving very sanely until at time, not crossing 100km/h. but as soon as the gate opened, four cars sped by me and it was very obivious they were planning to drag on the six-lane. the cars were -

hyundai accent - souped up with the works
opel astra - fully modded from the outside to resemble the F&F car, not sure about engine mods
stock looking and sounding vtec green color MH registration
lancer - fully souped up and the "000" car for the rally itself
city 1.5 non vtec - headers, k&n (my car)

well, cant afford to sit back and relax after that, can i?

shifted down to 2nd and opened as soon as i found a gap in the traffic. just shifted to third and i was already next to the opel - blew past him at about 110. was peaking in third and caught the accent. we were doing about 140 at this time. all this time the lancer was just pulling away from the vtec. caught the vtec at around 155 and went past it. still pushing on 4th and at about 165, came up to the lancer. went straight past it and was still pushing 4th when my meter was showing 190...

looked in my rear view and felt very very happy...

all i can say now is - bring 'em on!!!

apologise for my ignorance but wasnt the 000 car a Diesel Lancer? and yup those 2 cars looked real kewl with chameleon job...

What's the length of that 6 lane stretch. From your description it looks like 7-8 km..

the length is about 3 kms as mentioned earlier.

now i know why the lancer could not pull after 160- i thought it was diesel too jaggu with the amount of smoke he was putting out but it was a mighty silent car.

ya aadix, 190 on the meter - should be about 175-180 true speed.

yeah me n tom were arguing on the smoke yday.. no way a petrol car would spew out so much of smoke.. there was a fully modded black one with black glass.. lancer yday.. looked damn neat.. again a diesel :P but a shinning piece of machine without a single stickering... neat machine i say..

190kmph on a 1.5 is impressive. BTW which 6 lane highway are you talking about?

ya, the smoke was there but the car was silent, always thought it was a petrol. wonder what else he has under that engine...it was ahead of the stock vtec

hi rudra, i got the headers from coimbatore.

i dont think i would care for the car.. winning is all that matter.. recently got whipped by a Palio D me in a friends zen lol.. Palio D rocked that day..

keep it smoking but be safe.. thats all that matters..

ya jaggu but still it would have felt nicer if that was a petrol lancer...

got to do some investigative work and find out what he has under the hood of that lancer. no way he can be faster than the stock vtec. and the hyundai was reddy's (for those who dont know - he is prop of ozzone car accessories in bangalore) which is also a very fast car...

Obviously, the Vtec guy wasn't flooring it. Forget the Diesel, even a stock petrol Lancer can't match the Vtec.

Tell you what, y don't you time yor City 1.5 using the Gtech pro, when ever you get the chance. We know Rush's time on his Vtec, so we can then compare them and yo'll know how much of an improvement your car has gone thorugh.
