A colleague was killed in a road accident yesterday while travelling to office. He was in Wings Radio cab and near a chowk at Wakad, a truck banged the vehicle from behind causing his death. I am not sure who was at fault - whether the Radio cab driver or the truck but a life has been lost.

Everyday while commuting I observe the cabs and six-seaters trying to cut from left, right and they drive a tad bit rashly and take the wrong side of the road.

Is there a way through which we can persuade the passengers of these vehicles to protest against the practice? I tried to talk to drivers, but its of no use.

It will be sad if a mishap occurs esp in six seaters, which actually carries more than 10 people at a time.

Can anyone tell me traffic situation right now? Which would be the best route to take?

If you havent already left, DO NOT take the Mezza9 route. The lines are really long and completely stationary as we speak.
Also, a while ago, cops were making people compulsorily take a left turn at McD though. Dunno if they are letting anyone go straight now. Things look very very bleak right now. :(

Alas i started off before i saw your post and got caught on the road to Bhumkar chowk. It took me 1 hr 10 mins to reach pimple saudagar!!

Update as of 7.10 pm. Cops are not allowing anyone to take any other route than the Mezza9 one. Predictably, the line of traffic there stretches several kilometers.
But thats not the worst part of it.

The worst part is , I am soon going to be a part of it.:Frustrati

Which route is this? Any recent update? I am waiting only for the traffic to subside, I am planning to leave by 815pm. Just hoping that the traffic would have subsided by then.

+1, even i am waiting for the traffic to subside a bit. Might leave at around 9:00 PM though. Hope by then the Mezza9 - Bhumkar Chowk road is open.

Update at 8.40 pm:

Traffic is stand still ahead of Wipro circle. Sitting inside the car with engine turned off!

OT: Riders on the Storm by The Doors is keeping me entertained. The lyrics and the current traffic condition is by far the best irony!

Now shooting for 9:30 .. have no patience, gutts or like to be stuck up in the traffic jam. God knows how am I going to get up early tomorrow .. :(

Update at 9.10 pm: Managed to just cross Yes bank in 30 mins. Mezza 9 will take another 15 mins at least. By far, this is the worst Hinjewadi jam I've ever been in!

OT: Are you travelling to Mumbai?

Traffic is worse now. People started driving on the wrong side and both sides are now jammed! I parked the car and walked to Mezza 9! :)

And No, I'm not travelling to Mumbai tonight. Don't have the patience anymore.

Finally traffic is moving. About 3 hours to cover 12 kms.

Boy oh Boy, yes it was crazy, I left at 820pm, was feeling very happy thought that the traffic muct have subsided, since it was pretty quiet! Just after crossing wipro circle, realised why it was so quiet, people had literally parked on the road since it was just not moving ahead, I took a u-turn went back to ETZ and took the village route, can say was very lucky to reach home at 925. Had to take dirt road even in the village as Marunji had their own celebrations, it was good to see all hatches do off-roading.
