Based on newspaper reports the blame game intends to be just passing the ball. The report mentions repair of road by 15/10 and not on starting of alternative route. I first heard of this alternative route around 4 yrs back when I used to travel to HJW daily

Whats worth noting is, due to that petition, she was compelled to visit HJW in peak hours. Maybe, that did give her a taste of what we go through everyday.

Visiting as a passenger in a X5 is not enough. Which of these losers we talk about will try to act smart with a spanking white SUV? She should be asked to drive around by herself in a car without power steering and any indicators/ stickers who she is (as a commoner). Only then she will understand the problem.

As a larger issue, I think all politicians should be mandated to use public transport only. Once they are forced to do this, they will either improve the quality of public transport or invest in better infrastructure or just quit politics and go back to land grabbing (or whatever else they do). Enough of utopia, back to reality now...

One encouraging line in the entire report. Work on the alternative route to Hinjewadi Phase I to start by October 15th. The only question is by when would it be completed and what would be the quality of work. :D

IMHO the biggest issue would be the quality of work and planning. My suspicions are that the roads are bad & collapse regularly ('nehmi khachtaat') as the land is agricultural in nature. Normally the top soil is loose with less support when exposed to continuous pressure.

Another suggestion , if feasible, just may be to have a local BHPian group of Hinjewadi who can always assist other BHPians in case of real distress on road in this area. Just my thought ..pls ignore if irrelevant.

In fact we are notorious enough to attract the attention of another bhpian when spotted. I guess if and when another needs help, most bhpians I know would be up for it :thumbs up

Sometimes we even extend that benefit to other humans based on instinct

By the way, have you been able to check out that alternate route via Ravet yet?

Thanks. Yes checked that route , sorry did not share feedback earlier. Definitely less traffic till wakad point but route longer by about 6-7 kms. Also, one portion was full of slush ...thats why avoided it the very next day and continuing with the old route.

Since almost 1 week I am coming earlier to office .starting at 8 15 am ( almost 45 earlier than previous) and reaching by 9/ 9 15 in office. :thumbs up.

Instead of wasting time on road, found it better to use extra 1.5 hrs ( yes that what i gain in net by starting 45 mins earlier) in office.

Does it state the year? lol:. It only says October 15th. But which year? Forget the completion date/year. Lets see if the work on alternate routes actually starts!

The statistics were being collected by some guys today morning at a couple of points visible to me too. First was below the Wakad bridge, where people like us coming in from Katraj side turn into HJW. The second was on the bridge itself.
So somethings cooking alright, just dont know whether it will be edible when done. Or even done at all.

To be fair to Hinjewadi locals, I have seen more xenophobia (bordering upon) in the little village surrounding my engineering college (Vadgaon Bk.) at the onset than here. The presence of cops here at all times is commendable too. Its just that a particular group of strongmen , as in rest of Pune, can get away with things.

While leaving between 8 and 9 pm , the Mezza9 route is mostly straight sailing these days. How is the regular main road ?

Those stats guys were at it today again. While I was waiting in traffic, rolled down (the window of course!) and asked them. Some data gathering's going on. You were right @Sajo.

@Sajo: At that time, almost all roads are hassle free. Some minor jams near Soundarya and flyover, but otherwise free. On the other hand, Mezza9 route is absolute hassle free. Empty throughout. Only problem is the condition of the road is not so good.

Now today they were videographing the whole traffic process. Might be for news channels, but I didnt see any of their broadcasting vans around.
If it all it is shown somewhere, the guy in green stupidly smiling from a bus window is me. :D

Lot of action happening over the last 2 days. Madam Sule visiting, traffic counts, now video. Lets hope all this culminates in something tangible.

Sajo - please don't forget us. You are famous now and on TV. :uncontrol

Honestly, what can we expect that hasnt been already tried? Traffic study is fine, but with no new flyovers or roads being planned , what purpose will they serve ?

Now that I am going to be a celebrity after my token TV appearance, maybe the jams will be aggravated by people waiting to meet me. :)

Or to hit you for presenting a smiley face when the situation is so dreary. Now the cops/ politicos will think people are happy travelling in HJW ;)

They should either have an open online forum for suggestions or bring in the experts. Or perhaps transfer to HJW Phase 3, the person who decided/ finalised the direction of that Wakad flyover (no flexible times).

A whacky but apt solution would be to extend that lousy flyover all the way till Wipro Ph 2. All those wanting to go to Ph 2/3 could get on the flyover right from Wakad chowk. No need to wait in traffic. For those going to PH1, use the normal existing route.

However, if as usual they take decades to build that flyover, then we are doomed!

^^ As good as that SOUNDS it's actually not. Anyone who's lived in Bangalore through the nightmare of the Hosur Road elevated road construction (4 years was it?) will testify.

If they start one in Hinjewadi, am going onsite for sure. And staying there! lol:

Best thing would be to let out your current house and rent one inside HJW. Blue ridge/Megapolis and a slew of other standalone buildings...

In fact, rent out a studio type thingy and stay there M-F. A lot similar to a touring job.

I am getting business ideas now...

Spare a thought for Fräulein :)

Noop, now you know why I suggested that :D.

No, but on a serious thought, the best solution that can be implemented is, make WFH compulsory, at least 2 days in a week. That would ease a lot of congestion.

On other thoughts, has anyone noticed? For the last couple of days, getting out of HJW is'nt that time consuming. Sure, the traffic is still there, but dare I say- Its more systematic now. Probably the cops have done something.
