I heard that in south africa (which has the highest car hi-jacking rates) car jackers hide on overpasses, prepared with a big stone tied to a rope, designed to fall just to the level of the windscreen and no higher or lower; when they see the xenons of an expensive car approaching they drop the stone and it smashes through the windshield startling the driver, who then stops the car to see what the hell happened. The car jackers then take over the car, which is in good condition except for a smashed windshield!

Good idea only one problem you will get guys into sado machism lining up to throw stones so they can have the pleasure of being tied to a bus and get dragged.

Have heard this happen long time back in trains that passed through Kerala.. There was an article in The Week about this.

One person was blinded as a result of a stone hitting his eye. Not sure if this is still on.
