Re: My Rs.525 lesson in stupidity at a Petrol Pump Station.

You guys should check the fake polish thread, where someone got something like this and peeled off the label to find the aerosol can was actually rat poison or something. Stuff like this is best avoided

Re: My Rs.525 lesson in stupidity at a Petrol Pump Station.

Such car care kits are sold at almost every Petrol pump in the country. Here in NCR, People sell range of car care products and make tall claims on their quality. What should be done in this regard is to never buy such products from them, Buy only genuine and reputed stuff. Even car accessories shop sells such products.

Re: My Rs.525 lesson in stupidity at a Petrol Pump Station.

Unfortunate. I initially felt that the company and product name could have been faked. But I find a company with that name with this home page -

aerosol filling job Work aerosol room freshner manufacture bike spray shiner polish manufacture car care kit manufcature

There is a mention of this 'Shine Star' product as well in their site.

Re: My Rs.525 lesson in stupidity at a Petrol Pump Station.

ummm, i DID buy this product.
twice, in fact.
mostly for the big spray can of foam.
Never used it inside the car, but the foam one is really good for getting rid of dried water stains, and any other marks.
strictly for the outside, though.....
got it for 300 bucks a pop, though, not 525...

Spitfire Your way of dealing with such people inspire us all!

Brix, The Mrp says Rs 380.
Why did you pay Rs 525?

Re: My Rs.525 lesson in stupidity at a Petrol Pump Station.

I was viewing TBhp, this thread also and meanwhile I opened Ford Figo site also and when I was about to close the open windows a new window which had opened up on its own caught my eye, that of Anjali Chem Industry. Suddenly this thread came to my mind and when checked yes it was. I did not search for this product but how it opened up is a mystery. I have all pop ups blocked in my PC.

But what is still interesting is the page which opened up was mentioning the company's quality standard. The word standard was wrongly spelled there as standerd. This itself speaks about the company and their product quality. No wonder what happened to Brix. The item bought by Brix is shown there as one of their products.

Take a look at the page :::Welcome to ANJALI CHEM INDUSTRY:::

A firm which misspells standard can only make such non-standard products. Not at all bemused but what is amusing is how the page opened alongwith Ford India.
It may also be interesting to note that this company is an ISO - 9000;2008 certified company

Re: My Rs.525 lesson in stupidity at a Petrol Pump Station.

This product was also sold at the Devdas Petrol Station near Mount Carmel College, Bangalore.

I regularly fill up fuel at this bunk (in addition to another couple of trusted bunks) as we know the owner of this bunk.

The guy and his accomplice selling this stuff approached me and demonstrated the product on my M800. I was tempted to buy but having better products at home, sense prevailed and i politely refused.

Honesty is far fetched today. Better to be wary and open the contents of the product before paying, lest you get a raw deal.

It never occurred to me that this was a scam until i saw this thread.

Thanks for sharing.

Re: My Rs.525 lesson in stupidity at a Petrol Pump Station.

The same stuff is offered here in Hyderabad as well.

Was at a HP outlet in Marredpally and filling the tank when this sales guy comes and starts demonstrating the product by spraying the product on the right front fender of the Scorpio.

Politely informed him that I am not interested, and he sprays another can of spray on the glass and starts cleaning it.

So I had to get down the vehicle and had him clean the complete front and rear glass as part of the demo as it was really dirty. I usually clean the vehicle before I start from home and have Armour all products at home but because of an urgency had to leave before cleaning the car.

I asked the guy the price and he quoted it is 650 but was willing to offer it for 450 as a promotional offer.

Meanwhile I got into the car as the bill was already paid for the fuel and just drove off and I could see a confused and frustrated look on the sales guys face in my rear view mirror.

These guys just look to make a quick buck but since we love our steeds should never depend on these road side vendors, rather purchase our car care products from a reputed dealer or store just my 2 cents.

that was funny! but the fellow who is pushing the product is only the peddler. the king pin stays away, watching from a distance.. for he knows that there are many smart vehicle owners and he wouldn't risk getting beaten up by them.

^Awesome job Spitfire!

I remember, nearly all petrol pumps in the Delhi, NCR area are contaminated with these fake stuff!

I remember, I had gone for a fuel top in my i20 and this sales guy comes around. He took like 5-6 rounds around my i but couldn't find any scratch!

While leaving I gave him a smile lol!

Re: My Rs.525 lesson in stupidity at a Petrol Pump Station.

I wonder why these products are not manufactured by reputed companies of India. Never seen Tata, Godrej etc producing something like this for Indian consumers. Maybe thats why the crooks get a chance to con people with fake products.
