- "InterGlobe Established Private Limited" has announced the launch of the Ariel Atom in India. They will exclusively represent the Ariel Motor Company in India and SAARC.
- The Ariel V8 Atom beat the Bugatti Veyron earlier this year by 1.7 seconds on the TopGear test track, making it the fastest road-legal car to go around the track. The car has also proved to be one of the fastest in the world in the 0 - 100 mph - 0 test.
The models of Atom that will be available in India include the 245 bhp and 300 bhp variants.
- Standard spec is approx Rs 55 lakhs on the road, going up to Rs 85 lakhs with all upgrades (such as super charger etc). This includes shipping and import duty.
- Interglobe also has presence in the motorcycle, Yatch and aircraft space.

This is a great car for the true enthusiast, particularly on the the track. In fact, perhaps ONLY on a track!
The Indian car market is great to be able to offer this choice. Congratulations!

Indeed a driver's delight, this car. The pricing though is a bit steep. Don't expect it to fly off the shelves as the number of people who actually are aware of such a car or brand in India should be very limited.
The big one, are they offering any service facilities?

It is fantastic indeed. The Ariel Atom 300 bhp supercharged edition has been clocked going from 0-100 at 6.86 seconds. That really is something else.

That's what it takes to do 100mph(160kph)...the standard Atom V8 does a 100kph dash in just 2.8 secs :D
At over 1000bhp per tonne the Atom 500 will be the ultimate statement in performance!

While your numbers are indeed true, that's not the Atom that's going to be sold here, unless I'm wrong. Hence why I ignored those even more eye-popping numbers:D

Just to clarify that I was taking about the supercharged 300bhp version only. It does 0-100kph in 2.8 secs. The naturally aspirted version does it in around 3secs. And the ultimate Atom 500 does the same in less than 2.3 secs!
Though the 500 is not going to be launched here 'officially', but if the owner asks for one I'm sure they'll definitely import it for him :)

but to come to think of it - how many buyers would actually consider the atom? i mean i agree it's a fantastic machine and does the 0-1000000 lightening fast - but will the uber rich actually buy a 50-60 lac go-kart just to tell people how fast it can go and how ill-equipped it is??
i mean that kind of amount is not exactly easy to come by and it makes me wonder why wouldn't anyone buy the boxster instead. the only reason that i can think of is that the prospective owner already has a boxter, and a lamborghini, and a couple of ferraris, and a couple of other hyper cars and doesn't know what to buy just for kicks. (can think of a couple of them - and one of them has it already)
that would make it about 2-3 atom sales a year?
or am i being too optimistic?
I read in the cannonball club facebook page that they are planning trackdays at the F-1 track. If such instances get more popular, there could be some market for the Atom
Seeing at the atom prices, I guess our indian tuners can build an arial atom under 15lkhs.
GTO, keeping in mind that these cars are not considered road legal by the local RTO's in India, i dont see more than a palm full being sold for the brag value. I dont mean the Atom is not a capable machine, ridden in the very car you posted and seen what its capable off. What i do mean is that the person who buys it would either have to use it on track or for events such as drags. I am yet to figure out how GS managed to have it registered but thats another story. Driving it in the city..you have pebbles, stones, dust and dirt all over you. No helmet or glasses and you'll have something in your eye, besides all this the heat will kill you. I dont see its sales even touching the double digits in a year.

This is as pure as any automobile can get. The perfect machine to hit that apex time and again. And the best thing is, one can drive this on to a track.
Now, a great track and the perfect car is well within reach for us in India. Only need 'some' money.
