Re: Porsche 911 (991) in India

There seems to be more newer generation 911s in India then Mahindra e20's

Any word on if there is any seven-speed manual 911 in India?

Autocar Review of the Carrera 4S. Why isn't there an official Team-Bhp review of this car yet!

Re: 991 911 turbo S

Whoa! That was FAST. Just a week ago or so Nasser Al Thani posted pics of his 991 Turbo S on Instagram which was apparently the first in Mid East and India gets one soon after? Mighty impressed!

Any idea on the price? I'm sure its in the 3-3.5cr ballpark going by Porsche's new pricing strategy, if not more.

One more pic by RaceTech. Those center-lock rims look awesome.

And yeah it touches 3.4cr according to a Pune guy who got one. And apparently Porsche has sold 5 of these already. Deliveries happening soon.

Re: Porsche 911 (991) in India

A heavily optioned 991 Turbo / Turbo S may just tickle the 4-crore mark in India. That may sound like a helluva lot of money for a 911 (and to be honest, it is!) but with the kind of performance it packs, it's a bargain. It annihilates pretty much everything, this side of the LaFerrari, 918 Spyder and McLaren P1.

Re: Porsche 911 (991) in India

The Gallardo India edition would retail for around 4 Cr OTR which is decently speced from factory. In the Porsche touches 4 Cr, it is supremely insane pricing from Porsche in India as it has always been the case.

I quite didnt get that. How would a Turbo annihilate supercars? Could you elaborate on that? You might kill me for this but I always believed the 911 was a icon but still there were better cars in the market.

Some publications have managed sub 3-second times on 0-100 km/h runs! The combination of all-wheel-drive, Sport-PASM, active-aero, torque vectoring, PDK and rear-wheel-steering has resulted in something that covers ground briskly. In spite of having just 560 horses and 6 cylinders, it has the potential to out accelerate 700 horsepower V12 beasts like the Ferrari F12 and the Lamborghini Aventador on any surface. And unlike the old (997) 911, the new 991 boasts of overall build-quality / fit-finish that's right up there with the best in the business. Reliability is another feather in its cap.

The only thing the 911 lacks is appeal, but even that is subjective. People are tired of the way it looks. The exhaust note could have been more raucous and visceral. Also, there is no longer a manual-transmission option. That aside, it is a package that's hard to beat.

Check out Autocar UK's video review on the new Turbo and do read Chris Harris' review on Pistonheads.

Nasser owns the Oakley Aventador that took part in Gumball. The Tron Aventador belongs to his cousin.

The Al-Thani surname is quite confusing IMHO, I have myself seen 4-5 diff names with the surname all having some crazy supercar.
That could be the reason for the mix up by A.K
