Toyota Supra abandoned in Faridabad
An iconic Toyota Supra has been spotted abandoned in Faridabad. It is said that the car has been lying in this state for the past 2-3 years.
From the pictures, it appears to be a stock Supra, which is extremely rare in India. Most Supras are modified according to the owner's taste.
The car in question is an A80 (fourth-gen) Supra sold between 1993 and 2002. It was powered by a 3.0-litre straight-6 2JZ petrol engine. The Japanese sports car shot to fame after it was featured in the first Fast & Furious movie.
The Supra is now a modern classic and its value has been increasing over the past few years. Unfortunately, in India, many Supras are now garage queens, and only a handful of them are driven regularly.

Aah, that's a sad sight. Owning one was a dream of mine for years.
It doesn't look like it's been in an accident. Wonder why it's abandoned.

Although it looks abandoned, but this isn't a 'roadside-left-to-rot' example. It is clear from the pictures that the car is parked in a closed property, probably some factory.
My guess is that the owner may have some plans for this vehicle, but probably couldn't implement them due to maybe this Covid issue or lack of time. Who in his true senses will leave a Supra to rot? Specially if it's a stock Supra.
The '
doctrine of maintenance-higher-than-resale' doesn't apply on this car after all, it is among the few (Mclaren F1 and Porsche Carrera GT) which actually have appreciated in the years.
IMO, it looks abandoned, but isn't. Those cars are abandoned which can't be sold, this one is a single day sale if put on classifieds; irrespective of the condition. :Cheering:

I am not exactly sure but it might belong to one of my college mate, who were damn affluent. This is roughly 25 years ago that they were owning this Toyota Supra along with couple of other luxury cars.
Most probably, car must have run out of full life cycle and no longer registration is allowed and serviceable. Given there was no policy to re-cycle such vehicles and given they will probably not care for 5% discount even now, they would have abandoned it.
I really wanna play "Gone in 60 secs" with this vehicle now lol:

The white van is a VW T3 which is the previous model of my car which is the T4. It is a rear engined 4 cylinder. Depending on the model it could be an air or water cooled boxer. Later models had an engine from the VW Golf.
This van looks like a RWD.
Spotted this "Toyota Corsa" in February this year. I dreamed about it for about 10-15 days and I completely forgot about visiting it once more, even though it's not even 3 kilometers from here. Then I saw an entirely different kind of a tempo with square headlights, pictures of which I do not know when will be posted by melol:. Anyways, attaching the photos below with a heavy heart:

OT: I was just wondering if such cars can be bought, just in case(I hope it doesn't happen) the owner dies.
Yamaha R1 superbikes left abandoned at police stations
Pictures of a few Yamaha R1 superbikes left abandoned have surfaced.
The first is a 2008 Yamaha R1 left in a pathetic state at a police station in Delhi. It is expected to have been seized during a nationwide crackdown by the DRI on illegally imported superbikes in India. This bike is said to be a limited edition variant of the Yamaha R1.
The second bike is said to have belonged to Bollywood actor John Abraham and is lying in a police station in Mumbai. It is suggested that it is the same bike in which
John met with an accident in 2006 when he lost control and hit a cyclist.
The Yamaha R1 is one of the fastest bikes on sale and comes powered by a 1.0-litre engine that revs to 13,750 rpm.

From what I have heard they are not good, the frame can crack if you hit a bump at high speed. But all sports cars can throw up huge bills if you hit bumps or potholes. :disappointed, so deep pockets to maintain not only to buy.
Well, this Accord-Camry competitor was imported as a CBU, hence fits into the "import" theme of the thread. Spotted @ Worli Seaface, just after you get off the Sealink.

The car everyone loved and didn't buy! :)
Back then Ford didn't have the level of localization it does now. Maybe if this wasn't a CBU, maintenance and spares would have been cheaper. Nevertheless, the Mondeo remains a memorable, much-missed car.

They did launch the facelift in CKD form if memory serves me correctly, but it was a little too late.
Most of the buyers (I know 3 personally) were quite happy with the car, but a few were plagued with issues. There was no middle ground it seems with owners either loving the car, or complaining about the maintenance.

There were a couple of issues
1: Dealers and to some extent Ford never really supported the car with the kind of service expected for a car of that price. With Ikons, flying out of the showroom, it was not worth the effort.
2: Car was fairly reliable but not set up for Indian conditions, rear subframes were fragile and some of the electrics were not tropicalized properly.
Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche lie abandoned in Gujarat
An orange Lamborghini Gallardo and a Porsche sports car are lying abandoned in Gujarat. An Instagram post suggests that both the cars, along with a Range Rover Evoque, have been seized by the police. It's not clear which Porsche model that is, but reports suggest that it could be either a 911 or a Boxster.
The Gallardo is one of the most popular Lamborghinis ever built. More than 14,000 units of the supercar were built between 2003 and 2013, making it the best-selling Lamborghini of its time. The supercar was powered by a V10 engine and was available as a coupe as well as a convertible. The Gallardo has been replaced by the Huracan, which has gone on to outsell it.
It's sad to see such exotic cars lying in a sorry state in our country.

With respect to the registration problem in NCR, there's a way to circumvent it. Get it registered in a different state where the rules don't apply. Only caveat is that you have to pay for registration according to the idv. I know someone with an old sl500 that had to pay 15 lacs for registration (from Uttarakhand)to keep it on the road (Delhi).
That being said, the supra is a true modern classic. As someone pointed out, nobody would be dumb enough to sell. Probably just waiting to fix it
