These cars belong an Advocate, who was in mid of controversy for some Caste reservation remarks. His Hiace was vandalized by Activists few months a ago. That he arrived in same Lexus.

Pretty sad sight to see anywhere in the world. It is a factory built EWB or an after market conversion? Seems to be have been parked there for years.

It would be an aftermarket conversion. The likelihood of a factory built Pullman ending up like this is low. It also has longer rear doors

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

A Unicorn of cars- Skoda Octavia Combi VRS!

Sometime in 2023, when I was returning from my college, I passed a building on my way and in my peripheral vision I saw a sleek long roof of an estate-like car which seemed to be very European. Somewhere deep down I thought what if it's an Octavia Combi, now ofcourse I had to make sure what car that was so I paused and entered the building and my jaw literally fell on the ground, It was a dam Combi VRS! but it was very dirty it surely hadn't been washed in months, It was very disheartening to see such a great car sitting gathering dust there. Still in shock, I went ringa ringa roses around the car looking at it like a creep (but I didn't care). Afterwards, I found the watchman and asked him about the car and it's condition he said the owners shifted abroad long ago and the car has been here since then. I couldn't help but ask him the contact details of the owner but he didn't have any.
Now after a week when I was again passing that street, I hopped into the building to see the car but was surprised on not seeing it, on asking the watchman again he said some relative of the owner had towed and taken the car somewhere. I couldn't help but imagine if it was going to be scrapped and even the thought of it made me feel helpless. I gave my number to the watchman and asked him to give it to the so called 'relative' and left.
Fast forward to May 2024, still no update on the car

This is the reason that the number of cars gathering dust on the roads and in the parking lots has reduced drastically in the national capital.
I am not from delhi but I think they can/will only confiscate such vehicles if parked on public property, roads etc. They might not pull it off if such vehicles are parked in private premises.
Any delhi member can shed more light.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Saw this Audi A7 parked outside a used car dealership in Borivali. The security guard noticed me clicking pictures and called the dealership owner outside. The owner thought I was from BMC and was there to fine him. He was willing to give that car a wash to avoid the imposing fine. He said that it is for sale but just needs one module replaced. Although the suspension is surely busted.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Guys, yesterday while passing by the "Sree Kanteerava Stadium", Bangalore, I was shocked to see a huge invetory of BMWs, Mercs, Audis just rotting away on the roadside. Has anybody here got a clue that why are these expensive cars just parked at this particular junction and gathering dust?

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

Most car dealers like to ensure cars keep moving on to ensure cashflow. There must have been crores of stuff rusting away. In this case, cars remain and overflow onto public roads. Plenty of people visting Cubbon Park are affected. Some of these car might have no fitness certificate now.

The place is run by a mysterious person called Maruti. Rumoured to have underworld connections. Most of these cars are loaned for movie props or various people who want to be seen in these cars but not owning it as an asset.

Authorities turn a blind eye to this.

Re: Pics: Imports gathering dust in India

The Ford Mondeo was launched in 2002, as the most premium luxury sedan by the company. The car was a feature-loaded sedan in its segment. Mondeo was offered with two engine options – a 2.0-litre petrol engine that produced 142 Bhp and a diesel engine that produced 128 bhp of maximum power. However, the car did not gain success in India due to its hefty price tag.

Here's two of them "Rusting in Peace".

This was such a great car at the time. It was unbelievably roomy on the inside, came with a full black interior. I had lots of fun with a petrol variant as my buddy had one. It came loaded with features one of which was a defogger for the front window. I absolutely loved this feature as the front windscreen would never fog up as it had a very thin element weaved inside the glass. The drive was so sporty and the handling was crazy good. Thanks to your post, I have been beamed to 20 years back.
