Can be rebuilt from scratch, like I did my Jeep. But you'd have to really love the W126 to do that. I remember asking around in the late 2000s and it was a 20 lakh rupee job then (to make it 'factory new').

I think this would be a flood damage car, V12 and one without insurance. Else, there's no reason to abandon an F10. A working example can be easily sold in the used market.

That said, once the F10s hit the 10 year mark (i.e. in 2020), we'll be seeing a lot of abandoned examples.

I think I have seen this and another one around the same place. The other one I have seen is a golden Lexus RX300.

Car may have been abandoned due to high maintenance costs or availability of parts. Most of the Lexus/Toyota LC/LX/Harrier/RX/Prado were either imported as CBU's through Toyota Lakozy or through Transfer of Residence (TR) scheme. The Harriers / RX300s were very rare since many would opt for the LX470. I remember in those days (late 90s), the owner of KalraShukla coaching classes had a Harrier/RX300.

Disheartening to see a beauty in this state :Shockked:. I can't make it out as to what could have been the possible reason for the owner to let it rot like this, but certainly this beast doesn't deserve to be in this condition.

Silly question I guess, but why do these imports gather dust. I mean why doesn't someone jack it either for its parts or something else. The engine at least.

It belongs to an actor in telugu film industry. The car was involved in an accident where he (actor himself was driving) rear ended a fortuner. There were allegations in media that he was driving under influence of alcohol or medicines but nothing conclusive.

Other than dust and a dented front bumper, the Land cruiser looks to be in pretty good condition. If it is an impounded vehicle, then chances are high that the car would just lie there till the case is resolved.

Also, most these Landcruisers are fake imports brought under the Transfer of Residence scheme.

And i have also seen Hyderabad police efficient in terms of releasing cars after accident once FIR and pictures are taken. They generally don't keep the vehicles at station if its in drive able condition. They have a huge parking constraint and are aware of the same.

I have seen a lot of high end luxury saloons abandoned in yards both in India and abroad. On detailed investigation I got to know that these cars belong to governments and embassies and were used to ferry VVIPs and are armoured vehicles. These vehicles are not sold to civilians or used for other officials due to certain security measures (the specific reasons aren't know but that is the protocol). At least that is what I've heard from certain sources.
