That and also add the fact that the SUV is a 2011 model. Unless he extended his warranty, it must have expired last year. So, basically other than finding out the cause of the fire, Porsche India are under no obligation to reimburse him.
The course of action taken by Porsche will be interesting to see.

Warranty or no warranty, a car burning up into flames is reason enough for Porsche to take responsibility on humanitarian grounds for making a cars that has endangered someones life.
Frankly, Porsche India should have taken immediate action as Audi did with the R8 burning to flames few years ago on the sealink. I believe the owner was promptly handed over keys to an A8. Timing is key in crisis management.
In other news, I believe Porsche has got the 918 down for a tour of all dealerships in India. I believe the car has landed in Delhi few days ago. The timing of this bad PR is perhaps killing the excitement around them showcasing the 918 as every media person will have the same question to ask- Will this blow up too!?:deadhorse

What is the primary reason for these Porsche's to go up in flames, I am sure a renowned owner like Porsche would have stringent Quality Controls in place before a vehicle is handed over to customer, What is different which is happening to the vehicles in India?
Handing over a new car to the customer whose car burnt up in flames is not the only way a Car Manufacturer would like to close the case at their end, it just ensure a compensation to the existing customer but what about the overall image of the associated brand. Case in point we still remember an Audi R8 burnt up in flames even though whatever was done to curb the customer loss.
Wonder if the recall took place in India.

What is with the VW/Porsche/Audi/Skoda brand..... we used to hear rear engined VW beetles and micro buses catching fire, I also know of a friends late 60-early70 Skoda rear engine catching fire in Bombay years ago, Them the infamous R8 which went up in flames at the sea link during the super car run..... Ironical that i was riding in YPZ's Phantom with a friend when this happened just a few cars in from of us. Then another Audi SUV which burnt crisp and now this Cayenne. Im wondering if theres a pattern... not to mention the several Nanos that also suffered the same fate.
Im getting a fire extinguisher for my Cayenne, though its just a V6 :P

That looks like Delhi. Zoom in and you can see the DL1PC on the bus.
Pardon me for saying this, but a lot of the supercar owners in Delhi have the habit of revving the nuts off their cars and the Gallardo is particularly famous for having an affinity for fire. I sincerely hope that that wasn't the case here, the car had insurance and everyone concerned was safe.
