Porsche 911 GT3 RS unveiled in India

Porsche has unveiled the 911 GT3 RS in India. It is basically a road-legal, track-focused variant of the 911 range. The GT3 RS was unveiled at an event held at the Porsche Centre in Bengaluru.

Powering the Porsche 911 GT3 RS is a 4.0-litre, six-cylinder engine that develops 493 BHP and 480 Nm of torque, while being mated to a PDK transmission. The said engine is the largest naturally aspirated engine in the 911 range. Porsche claims that the GT3 RS can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 3.3 seconds, while the 200 km/h mark is achieved in 10.9 seconds.

Porsche has used light-weight materials in the construction of the GT3 RS. For example, the roof of the car is made of magnesium, while the engine and luggage compartment lids are carbon fibre. All this has helped designers to shed around 10 kg from the weight of the GT3. Porsche has also added features like Rear-axle steering and Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus with fully variable rear axle differential lock in the GT3 RS.

On the inside, the 911 GT3 RS gets full bucket seats that are based on the 918 Spyder. The dashboard too has been stripped down in order to reduce the weight. Even the door handles have been replaced by straps in order to achieve weight saving. Other features that are a part of the Club Sport Package include a bolted-on roll cage behind the front seats, provision for a battery master switch, separate six-point safety harness for the driver, and fire extinguisher with mounting bracket.

That is a great news!! Thanks for sharing dZired!! Any idea on wheel size and how many gears? Will India also get a manual transmission?
Read this on NDTV Auto news:
Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the German sports car manufacturer's "definitive track car for everyday use", was unveiled in India at the Porsche Centre Bengaluru yesterday. Hailed as "the race car for the circuit and everyday driving" by Porsche, the 911 GT3 RS brings together the best of both, road-legal sports cars and race cars.

Interesting fact: The new 911 GT3 RS set a lap time of seven minutes and 20 seconds on the North Loop of the Nuerburgring. It beat the historic record achieved by the Carrera GT super sports car by nine seconds.

This generation of 911 GT cars don't get manual transmissions. Only 7 speed PDK. They made a special gearbox mated to the engine of GT3 RS and is available in 991R, but that is limited run of 991 units only and all of them are sold. Wheels are 20 inches. If I am not wrong 285 mm front and 335 mm rear width.

CHEERS!!

There are only a few limited numbers assigned to India if I'm guess is right?!

Is this the customer car that went to chennai? Nice shot of the GT3RS in front of Bangalore palace.
