A Mercedes-AMG GT R has reached our shores and the sources (mentioned on the images) say that it is a launch car.

The fastest, most advanced, range-topping model of Mercedes-AMG’s GT series of cars, the GT R, is expected to launch in India within a month. The model has been billed as a road-going version of the German carmaker’s Nürburgring 24-hour race-winning GT3 and is the current title holder of the fastest rear-wheel drive car around the Green Hell.

Powered by Mercedes-AMG’s 4.0-litre, twin-turbo, V8 engine (codenamed M177) that makes 585hp (75hp more than the GT S currently on sale in India) and 700Nm (up by 50Nm), the GT R’s claimed 0-100kph sprint takes just 3.6 seconds and it pushes on to a top speed of 317kph. The engine is mated to the same seven-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox found in other GT model cars, though it has different gear ratios.

Haha even I was zooming in all day long trying to guess what it could be. I don't think the A45 is to be launched here,but if this is one, then it's great news 😍

Saw the GTR today and it really looks mean in person. The GTS looks like a baby in front of this one. The colour looks gorgeous with the frozen metallic finish, lots of carbon bits with alcantara interior and the spoiler in the back completes the whole look. This is the launch car and it'll be revealed soon with pricing details (approx 2.5cr). Until then, a teaser pic taken in the dark basement, where the beast from green hell is tucked away for next few days.

The launch happened earlier today and they have brought in the Roadster too! Not the GT C Roadster though, just the regular GT non-S one.
Slightly off-topic, but the AMG GT line-up now includes 6 cars and will only expand more!


Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG GT R and the AMG GT Roadster in India, with prices starting at INR 2.23 crore and INR 2.19 crore respectively (all prices, ex-showroom, pan India). Both the models were launched by Roland Folger, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes- Benz India.

It is indeed, wish they get aggressive with smaller AMG cars as well for poor souls like me

The GT Roadster is priced at INR 2.19 crore onwards and the AMG GT R is priced at INR 2.23 crore onwards (prices ex-showroom, all India)
